Next project is...

Some of the previous threads have exposed how many project cars some of us have in the que. Let's hear about the next one(s), all makes welcome!

I'll go first (although I've mentioned it in other threads).

47' Hudson pickup with SBC and modern drivetrain to be my daily driver. I plan to keep the body stock & use newer steel wheels (police interceptor if I can score a set). Eventually it will get a Hudson 308 back in it, but that's a long term goal. I hope to add A/C within a year...

Next Hudson after that will be putting my Dad's 46' C8 back togather :)

I've got a '36 H8 Model 64 with a rusty body that I will use the chassis as a base for a Railton Light Sports Replica. Plan is to install a later 8 with the bigger ports, with a couple of carbs and optimised exhaust configuration.

My '32 Essex- Not sure what the job entails yet, As I am getting a lot of pressure to leave it stock because of its originality.................

Hey, T8 ... for that "optimised exhaust configuration," think about making a set of headers that would come up and to the right, into two collectors, then through the hood side panels and down into the fenders, a la Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg. I was going to do it on a '35 rod project, but decided I wasn't going to take on any more major ones!
  • I got a 27 TT truck,1923 T roadster and a 29 Model A station wagon to do, Some day. Kelly Heingardner had a set of headers on his 38, over the top of the engine, but they should be easy to make out the right side. Rick. Putting a early trans behind a wide block engine, no problem. Turn out the bearing retainer on the late model bell housing, make sure bolt holes line up and there you go. been there, done that, but its been 40 years ago. Also as I have stated many times on this site is that you can put most any Hudson rear under your truck by relocating the rear spring pads, over the years I have had an original 33 rear, 38 112 rear, 51 hydro rear, 1966 Ford Fairlane(8") and now a dana 44 under my Terraplane 8. Hudsons and Terraplanes are terribiley easy to interchange parts between all years .
  • If the guy accepts my offer tonight, it will be a '71 Jag xj6 (that needs some paint and body work) sedan with a SBC. That will be my daily driver. If I end up with it I can sell my Impala SS and invest that money into my 1953 Triumph Mayflower 2 dr. sedan that I have owned for 27 years (and never driven). It had a flathead V8 in it, but I have a heavily tweeked Ford 4cyl with a 5spd. that is ready to put into it. It already has a narrowed Olds rearend under it.

  • Im in the middle of a ground up restoration on a 1970 Dodge Charger RT-SE , Im having trouble not dropping it and starting on the Hudson club coupe , I really should do a 70 Coronet RT next ( it will go qwik ) but probally I'll nix it and do the Hudson !! I have a real nice original Road Runner I'd trade for a 51-53 club coupe !!!!!!!
  • My next project, after Sara's Jet will be the '47 Super Eight Club Coupe, followed closely by a '54 2dr Jet. The Jet has twin H and stick and O.D. but has no heater, radio, arm rests, pockets in back of front seats, dome light, and only the driver's side has a sun visor. I've never seen another Jet with so many "deleted" items. Has anyone else?

Dany--Dad's Jet Utility SEDAN, not coupe, doesn't have any extras, not even the optional back seat cushions!! Radio delete, no heater no visor, etc. He is making one change, tho--somewhere he has come up with a gennie JET clock--I don't I have ever seen (or noticed) a Jetclock. My bad. We did put Twin-H on it, tho. Straight 3-speed, no o/d. 45mph feels like 90 in a Hornet. Tom Burke
  • My next project is the '50 C6 that got delivered last month. I'm tempted to put some speed parts on it (similar to the 232 discussion on the Rod board). I'm thinking 4 bbl, header, and side exit exhaust like the one hornet53 just put on his. Is there a head upgrade available on the 262? I'm assuming the Clifford head wouldn't do me any good....

I've got 2 going in parallel. The 46 Hudson pickup with (Royer's) straight 8 in it w/overdrive from a 49 Super Six Donor.

Frame up rolling chassis is done. Gotta put a new floor in the cab.

The other is the 40 Hudson Victoria eight coupe. It's running and the front fenders are off.

I plan to drive one of these to Marleboro for 'Hudson eight in 2008'
  • wife says i don't have a next project atleast till i get the ones i already started, but will be a 30-31 ford coupe streetrod . currently i have my 51 hudson commodore 8 , a 1929 model a pickup streetrod with a 340 mopar , a 1971 amc javalin and a 14 foot bass boat that i had to completely gut and replace the spars floor and bulkheads and fix a huge hole in the hull . i just finished my vintage 1966 shasta camper trailer

    i use to own a 67 barracuda fastback ,a 27 t roadster with a 289 ford , and a porsche 944 .
  • Next up is the 1964 Chevy pickup, swb, small rear window, 1/2 ton, which needs a total body and interior restoration but has a freshly rebuilt 400 small block and TH350. Will probably drive this one a season then sell it.

Then, onto the "barn fresh" but running-and-driving '29 Town Sedan. Also have a 78 Dodge 3/4 Ton Power Wagon I want to do a stock "driver" resto on for the farm. In the meantime I'll be helping my good friend put the finishing touches on a 1998 S-10 with a 388 conversion and another friend re-wood a 51 Bentley MK VI J. Mulliner, and put a 79 Dodge Lil'Red Express back together.
  • my brain is constantly ticking over about what to do after ive done with the pacemaker but i always go back to thinking of an essex coupe or roadster with a strong 308 and some vintage lakes/strip style going on. who knows!
