Oil pressure Gauge
Does anyone have a suggestion about an aftermarket oil pressure gauge that would fit a 308 with 6 volt? I was wondering how many people run with oil pressure gauges. I think it makes sense to install one given the fact that you would like some warning in the case of the oil pump gear failing . Any ideas ??

An Accessory Gauge Is A Good Idea, But If Your Oil Pump Stops So Will Your Distributor And You Will Be Dead In The Water, Call The Tow Truck. Bill Albright0

Any aftermarket mechanical oil gauge will work for you. You should only need to change the light bulb to a 6 volt bulb for your application. Same is true for the mechanical temp gauge as well. The amp gauge might present a problem though, but I'm not sure on that one.

Ampere gauges work just fine as long as they have enough of a scale to handle the 6-volt (higher) current. Voltmeters are another thing, though. I have one in my car with an 8-volt battery but it is made for a 12 volt car so never moves very far.0

I have both an oil pressure and water temp gauges,on my 54 Hornet. I am also using the idiot light and stock temp gauge. I put a "t" in the oil pressuretakeoff in block. For the water temp I am using the one in the head with a special adapter for the bulb, and the old sender in the block where the drain plug was. I am using Stewart/warner gauges, but VDO will also work if you can find the right adapters. Lou Cote0

By mechanical guage, he means the ones with the little tube that pushes the oil under pressure right up to the guage itself- so doesn't use an electical "sender" unit. You might also check with tractor supply places- lots of old 6 volt tractors still around. If you want to go electrical, you could use a 12 volt gauge with the proper resistor- I don't know what "ohmage" you would need, but I bet there are about eleventeen guys on here who do know, so one of you please chime in.0
