Here are some pics. And some pics too of my began restauration of the 48 commodore eight i bougt in september 2005...
Now there are two hudsons in my life... and i really love it!!! The pacemaker runs really smooth like a song of johnny cash...
Never had a better cruiser-car in my live! Absolutely great!!!

This is the best Buick Roadmaster I've ever seen, LOL!
Congratulations on your purchase! Do you know the history of the car? Was it in Germany since new?0 -
Cool stuff!
Anyone know whats up with the tailights on his driver? I don't think I've ever seen that style on a stepdown...
The trunk picture on your 48 brings back some bad memories - I had to totally replace my trunk pan as well, but I had the luxury of doing a hot - rod type build and could make some changes with the gas tank and could do a simpler floor pan replacment...check my website under Custom How To... -> Trunk Pan if you want some ideas...
Good Luck - remember...

Rambo, if you mean the taillights on the blue car, that's standard for the '52-3Wasp.0

As well as 52 Pacemaker.0 -
That is a nice Pacemaker, and also very rare!0

Hi Tom,
Du hast eine PN.
We were already in contact. I don't believe that you've got your second stepdown and I'm still searching. To make it even worse you got your car in Bavaria, already registered as historical car with TÜV (thats our famous bi-yearly technical check. These guys gives you real headaches).
The positive thing is, it seems there are a few stepdowns out there in Germany. May be there is also one for me. Otherwise I will import one from the USA, which is of course more risky since one has to rely on decriptions and pictures and nearly no chance to check the car personally.0 -

Heck..Just fly over for a week in July for the HET Nationals and pick one and ship it home.:)0 -
Hmmm, do you think it so easy. I mean besides the costs for the flight, I don't think that crowds of Hudsonites are waiting for a german guy to get rid of their stepdowns.0
-
Enfield, if you're a German guy with a handful of dollars, you'd be SURPRISED at how large those crowds are!0

They are also the same on the 52 Commodore 6. I think the 52 C8 used the Hornet lamps.0 -
It was the straight view from the back that threw me on the lights - once I saw a side picture of the light I recognized them.
Nice looking car!0 -
'52 Pacemaker is a rare car because that's the year the Wasp was introduced and they stopped producing them at around 7000ish units.0

Thanks at all!
And the facts about my backlights and this car are right! Only a short time built because of the new-coming Wasp in 1952. And only about 7000 pieces built.
In know some things about the car story: The car came to germany from switzerland about 1995, than a Doctor in Munich gave him back the original paint, the engine is completely overhault after a highway turn with full-on-gas over 5 miles (piston broke...)
Than the doctor died after a heard attack. Three years later his son sold this car. There is an wonderful second car, a 52 Pontiac Convertible with straight eight and 4-gear-automatictransmission (only 1/2 year built). But this one he won't sell under 35.000 €... But the condition is terriffic... Original paint, no body works done, everthing like new...
The story before the car came to switzerland i don't know... There is a sticker on the front window from a technical service in 1984 from Utah. Thats all i know.
Just went on a ride, the weather is beautiful, the engine is running really great, even my wife was driving a part of the trip and found it really great. It couldn't be better...0 -
@rocking tom,
you really are making me jealous.
Yeah, wheather is really nice these days over here in Germany. To compensate the missing Hudson, I took a nice ride with my 1941 BSA M20. Well, it was really great to shuffle along with this big banger, and made me forget the stepdowns for awhile.
@ bill a,
20 Hudsons for sale?
Also some stepdowns? Which models?
@ Jon B,
I think it is a bit risky to fly over without exactly knowing, who wants to sell what. The costs for such a trip are significant, and also we here in Germany have to work hard for our dollars or in our case euros.
When and where are the HET Nationals ?0 -
-
HET Nationals are in Auburn IN. this year but you might be able to see more Hudsons a bit closer to home if you go to a Hudson/Railton/Brough Superior meet in England.0
-
....or even closer to home, in Sweden! http://www.hudsonsweden.org/0

Just remembered on this old thread, because somebody here in germany on a normal parking ground sayed to me: "I don't know the car, but i do know the backlights!" I asked him, what's wrong with them! He said, the glasses are from a VW Beetle, the model of 1955/56. I just had a look on google, and see what i found:
The backlights of the left one has the glasses which are built into my backlights of my 52 Pacemaker! I think they did it that time, because in germany the technical inspection (TÜV) needs in germany allowed glasses an they have a number written on and they must have a reflektor, too. Most of the american cars don't have such numbers an if the inspector is a very "special" one, you can't pass the inspection without using other allowed glasses. So they formed an adapter and put chrome on it, so if you don't know the original one it looks good. For additional safety (i think) they screwed the little reflectors on the back bumpers, which i removed because it looked not good to me, and the VW-Backlights also have reflectors...
So i think i have the only Hudson Pacemaker with Volkswagen taillights... really a custom car ;-)...0
