newbie with an essex
hi everyone, been checking out this forum for a week now, waiting to be able to post. i bought my first essex last week. it is the black one someone posted a link to that was on craigslist and ebay. its a pretty decent looking car, far from perfect, but minimal rust. needs a new set of running boards and a little rust repair inside the rear fenders. chrome isnt too nice either. but its solid and the paint shines, got nice clean interior and 4 brand new tires. its definitely not all original like posted in the adds but im very happy so far. i bought it with hopes to build a 50s style hotrod some day down the road but right now i want to get it running and roadworthy. the head is off along with a few other things. with the side valve cover off, things look really sludged up in there. so im going to be needing some resources for parts and stuff.
oh yeah, in case you are wondering im 27, i saw they were looking to get more young guys on board.

Sorry, Geoff! It's a '31.
He's noted this in other postings, I thought he'd done so here. I'm thinking it must at least share engine components with a '30...0 -

There are some interchange parts with the '30 models - clutch, rods, crank, etc, but the cylinder head and block, and pistons are all different. the timing chain is also different I believe, as it has a different part number. Transmission is upgraded with bigger gears and layshaft etc.0
