Wouldn't spreading some shredded newspaper behind the car prevent that? :D

Call Windy Hills Auto Parts in New London or French Lake Auto Parts in Annandale (both MN). They are two of the largest and oldest yards in the nation. They're also great folks and deserve our support for not crushing old cars, but, rather, holding on to them for guys like us. Sure, they're for profit businesses, but sometimes their prices are more realistic than those of individuals who think that they are sitting on gold. I'll also mention here that French Lake has what seems to me to be an inordinate number of Jets, as well. If there's something that one of you Jet owners could use they may be able to help you out. I'm just too rushed this AM to look up their phone numbers for you, but I'm sure that you can find them through 411, if nothing else.

Thank you, Mars, for the info. I've been going to these great, old yards since before I could drive, so I guess that I'm a little tickled to see their neat, bright and shiney web sites. I'm sure that you all know that I didn't mean to imply that dealing with these yards was in any way preferable to buying from Bill A. It's just that it's really not uncommon to find guys who haven't a clue that there are still retail businesses dismantling old cars. You would be wrong if you thought that there is no new flow of vintage cars into these places. I suppose that I get up to one or the other of these yards every two or three years, and I've seen cars (including Hudsons) that weren't there before. For one thing there's still old cars sitting in pastures here and there and only a percentage of them show up on ebay, Craigslist and such. Also. I have suspected that when some people give up on overwhelming project cars they are less embarrased if they quietly disappear one day on the back of a wrecker than having all of their friends and neighbors know that their car is for sale. French Lake got an injection of fresh cars just a few years ago when one local hoarder finally gave up on whatever plan it was that he had, realized that many dozens of valuable cars he owned had turned to rust heaps while he owned them, and then quietly sold them off in non-public sales. Hoarding!! It's something that we don't talk about, but we should. I don't mean just cars, but parts, too. I know of two guys that have all sorts of NOS and used treasures stored away in pole barns. I've been a little guilty of it myself, but not on the scale of some guys. For me all of that's going to change soon because I have some serious fund raising to do. I know where a sweet little step-down convert lies waiting for me patiently. When the time is right, I'll give you gentlemen a little heads up about what I'll be posting on ebay.
