Something else for the Hudson Historical Society

If this is really what it purports to be, I think that it definitely (or definately, as some seem to prefer) would be a candidate for the Hudson Historical Society. Donors?

While these driving gloves come from the J L Hudson department store in Detroit and have no direct connection with Hudson Motors, it was, nevertheless, old JL himself who lent his name to the whole original endeavor, wasn't it?

  • The SAE doc is correct I have a few copies of this doc as I am sure the Hudson library does. It was produced for Frank Springs presentation to the SAE in 1948 in New York City. Doc has 3 pages of notes for Spring plus pictures of the stepdown manufacturing process. I see copies of this come up every once and a while.

Interesting. It seems that despite the fact that they were his notes, prepared for his presentation, numerous copies are available. I'm sorry to have called this to everyone's attention. I do wish that sellers would try not feign authenticity by simply giving breif descriptions. Of course, I suppose that there's the chance that this person really doesn't know the source of this copy.

All of that aside, 51hornetA, can you see yourself touring around in your Hornet with those gloves on?
  • I would say those gloves would have went nicely with the open tourer that sold recently on ebay more in keeping with the era. I believe these are circa 1920's and these appear from time to time as well. Nice item.

Gloves went for $46. To me that seems a fair price for an interesting piece of memorabilia
