Jet painted

Well I got my Jet painted yesterday, dark camel, with a wimbelton white top. The dark camel is close to the original Roman Bronze. It came out pretty good, since I don't have a state of the art paint booth. All I have is a $20.00 gun, and a heated 30x40 garage. I ordered my door rubber and trunk rubber from k-gap yesterday, and tomorrow I am going to get the window channel for it.

I would like to post pictures but I have tried and it won't work.

Thanks, Barry Smedley:D

  • Barry, I'll host them for you - email them to me at royer@royermusic.com.
That color combo sounds sharp - I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Barry, have you tried opening your own 'photo album' over at our Hudson photo website, http://groups.msn.com/HudsonEssexTerraplaneBulletinBoard/_whatsnew.msnw --? If so and you had difficulty, tell us what happened and maybe we can help you out. It's quite convenient -- you can place several photos in the same place (more if they're of a smaller resolution, like 100 dpi). Then, all you have to do is post the URL of the photo here using the little yellow square 'photo' icon, and they'll appear next to your Forum message.

Check with Victor Zamora on the window channels. He is in the roster in California, and is highly recomended!

Another Jet almost done - nice job Barry. Shows what can be done with minimal equipment. I have painted many cars over the years, including my own Jet, with a glass jar connected to the "blow" side of my old Hoover vacuum cleaner. I prefer the two-tones on the Jet. My own car is Moonstone white top, and Aquatone main body colour, with continental spare. Now you have to get the trim back on with damaging the paint!

Looks nice from what the pictures show ~ Who needs a 500.00 spray gun anyway!

I usually keep a couple of 5 gallon buckets of water in the "booth" to keep the floor wet - helps with the overspray cleanup.

What kind of paint did you use?
  • Thank you all very much. It has been a lot of work! Still have a way to go yet but I think I might be over the hill. It still has a lot of bugs that I will have to straighten out.

The paint I used was Dupont Centari acrylic enamel. If Royer dosen't mind I will send more pictures when I get all the trim work on. This computor here at work won't let me post pictures for some reason.

    Barry...

Like those Crosleys too! My uncle was a fanatical Crosley collector. Wagon, Hot Shot, coupe... he was always draggin another home... always a smile punctuated by the toothpick that always occupied his mouth.

Thanks for sharing - nice looking paint
