Another new aussie member
G'day all, this is my first time as a member on this fabulous Hudson forum. In
the past I have had access to it via Bob Ward when I was staying at his home for a short time last year when I moved from Sydney to Brisbane. I am the owner of a 1955 Hudson Hornet Custom Sedan with 308 and manual gearbox with overdrive. Being an aussie assembled car it featured no options
what so ever and it featured the Wasp hubcaps with dress rims. It now has the geniune 55 Hornet wheelcovers & it looks far much better. Also recently
fitted was a 54 Hornet Radio but still needing a roof mounted arial as we never received these in Australia. A continental kit is also coming from South Australia which will be fitted to my car.
My twin brother Jeff and I are the 3rd generation of Hudson owners in our family and have been members in the Hudson Amc Car Club Australia (formally
known as the HET Nash Rambler Car Club of NSW est 1969) since High school days. Let me think! 1992/93?? yeh about 15 years. I still remember travelling up to far north Queensland when I was about 4 years old in my Grand fathers 1957 Hornet Six, one of 72 XKD built here. We still have that car in the family waiting on full restoration along with many others in the family collection.
Here is a short list of the cars in the family, 1928 E, 35 T, 54 HSW, 55HH, 56HH6, 3x57HH6, 2x57HHV8 and about 10 AMC's plus 2 AMC Jeeps, a Cherokee and J20 pick up.
Regards Steve Fripp
PS once I learn how to use this forum I will post a few Aussie Hudson Photos
including the famous 35 Hudson 8 special and some articles regarding the Gibson speed boat etc...

Hello - Welcome to the Forum...
Jon - no kidding where are all these Hudson's popping up down there coming from anyway?
If not for the internet we might never know these fine folks!0 -

G'day folks. It time to answer some of your questions. All aussie 55,56 and 57 Hornets used 308 6cyl, and 327V8. 55 used 3speed manual with overdrive and the 56 and 57 used autos. Ive attached some great photos of these Aussie cars along with more detailed info. http://groups.msn.com/HudsonEssexTerraplaneBulletinBoard/aussiehudsons.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=4023
Our up coming Nationals in Toowoomba QLD in October will see a total of about 60 HET products. The usual 12 to 15 stepdowns and a record number of 5 or 6 55 - 57 Hornets is expected.
Regards Steve Fripp0 -
Yes Ray Pank is still alive and kicking, sold him some parts a few weeks ago, still playing around with Hudsons, so doing well.
