Mid-South Chapter meet

Yesterday (14 Apr) my daughter, KC, and I had the pleasure of attending a Mid-South Chapter meet in Crump, TN, followed by a great lunch at Hagy's Catfish hotel resturant (maybe the catfish live there before they're served.
This was my "introduction" to the Mid-South Chapter, now that I am living in Memphis and from the posts on this forum welcoming me when I posted I was moving to Memphis I anticipated a warm welcome - and I was not disappointed.
I enjoyed meeting everyone - the only disappointment may have been the weather kept many of the cars home, but that's the way it goes. There was a 1938 Hudson 112 on a trailer - on first glance one may have thought it was a street rod from the fancy rims and low profile tires, but the owner assured us the car was completely stock otherwise -, a 1952 (I thought it was a Hornet - shows how well I was paying attention - but somebody said that it said Wasp on the side and a 1954 convertible, so all was not lost.
After swapping tall tales and other Hudson lore and a short business meeting we caravaned south 6 miles to Hagy's. They do, fortunately, serve other fare than catfish, which was nice for me as I don't do fish. I had a T-bone steak that was delicious. We also found Cloyd Steiner, up from Ackerman, MS, with his friend Jerry Miller, waiting for the crowd to arrive.
We (KC and I) set out for Memphis after the meal and had an uneventful trip back, taking the southern route over TN 57 - uneventful except for a chat with a polite police officer in Moscow, TN. Seems he decided we were doing 52 in a 40 mph zone - I think it unfair that the pickup truck in front of us that we were following wasn't also stopped as he had to also be doing 52. There were 2 other Moscow police cruisers in the area at the time. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that KC's license plate has "Shelby County" on it Oh, well.
So I just want to thank all the folks that were at the meet for the welcome - as Carmen LaFlamme told me "You always have your Hudson family" and yesterday I found some more people to add to my Hudson family.
Hudsonly,
Alex Burr

Alex, I'm glad you got to add the great people of the Mid-South Chapter to your list of Hudson family. I found out, awhile back that they were part of my family also. Just like cousins I had not yet met. Judy and I are also members of the Mid-South as well as the Smoky Mountain Heartland Chapters. You would be hard pressed to find any finer folks anywhere. Sorry I didn't get to make this meet but it is a 6 1/2 hour drive and I haven't been feeling too well. The Mid-South Chapter is a big part of putting on the Pigeon Forge meet in October and I for one cannot thank them enough. Maybe You and KC will be able to attend the PF meet.

Alex was good to see you and K.C. and all the others. Several that I had never met before. The meet just did not last long enough. Could have visted much longer. Bob maybe you and Judy can make the next M.S. meet at Huntsville June 9.

Unfortunately, Judy and I are hosting the SMHC chapter meet for June and that week end has been mentioned. Maybe I'll see you at the National in Auburn. I will be there if my health allows. You never know what might happen by then.
