Rocker panel seals

I'm getting ready to put the rocker panels back on my '51 sedan after repairing. The rear rubber seals ("sponge rubber") are still in place on the perimeter frame. But there are no remnants of any in the front. Were there any in the front? (panels have been off before) And where would they go? Thanks. Walt-LA

    I believe that there are only two of these seals at the rear of the frame. That is all I found on my brougham. Be sure to clean out anything that you may find inside the perimeter frame. The factory put some material in there that collected moisture and contributed to frame rot.

    Walt, There are two seals on each stepdown rocker panel side that Hudson used. Both were sponge rubber and trapped water very nicely. The first one is up near the bottom of the front door hinge down in the rocker. It seems to me that it's about 8 or 10 inches back from the very front end of the front rocker. The second is just prior to the kick up area of the rear of the car a short way in from the rear of the main rocker panel. Both contour to the rocker itself and are roughly triangular in configuration. The other water trapper in the rocker is that God awful rubberized horse hair which someone thought would help seal the car. The side benefit as we all know is trapping water and rusting out rockers.
