HET Cars on tour in NZ
I just thought I would tell you all about a recent HET trip a group of us did here in NZ. For me it was a 1200 mile round trip from the time I left home and for another it would have been 2000 or more.
The tour was planned to follow after an Easter rally in Gisborne. It was designed to follow the route that a 1924 Hudson service car travelled for a number of years in the 1920s. The tour travelled around the East Cape of the North Island mostly on sealed roads but a section of the trip was over what is known as the Motu Coach Road. This road has remained unchanged for over 40 years - very narrow, steep, gravel but in some places there is just a bare rock surface. Great scenery when you could take your eyes off the road!
HET vehicles on the trip included a 1919 Essex 4 Tourer, 1920 Essex 4 Tourer, 1926 Essex Coach, 1928 Essex Coupe, 1928 Essex Coach, 1930 Essex Sedan, 1934 Terraplane Coupe and a 1964 Rambler 660 Classic. Apart from some very minor issues all cars covered the trip without incident - very reliable as expected and hoped.
A great trip ws had by all.

New photos coming soon, keep forgetting to take camera ,as I nearly see it every other day now , its a blow by blow job at moment first of the body parts off to painter for prep very shortly , front and rear guards, boot lid running boards, bonnets , front vallance, rear vallance
just set up seat belts, new floor , seat positions (bucket seats ) with trick little compartment to fit heater and tool kit etc (cant waste space) shifter is in and got told yesterday that it will be 5-6 weeks for the arrival of the Ididit chrome steering column , which is tilt , indicators, ignition switch and hazards all built in to hold my Nardi wooden steering wheel, strange how a parts that you were going to use are no good and you end up going over the top. In for a penny in or in for a pound !! LOL0 -
