Who drove their Hudson this weekend???

I pushed mine forward about 2 feet and then back again...does that count?0

Took mine to an AACA meet here in Raleigh and ran into another Hudson! 52 Wasp! He's a member of the AACA so it's restored to stock.
Got a lot of attention there with my flames and loud exhaust when I pulled in. Boy, them people like their trophys, I showed up too late to register so I wasn't in the running. What would I do with a trophy anyway? The way I drive, it would break if I tried to take it someplace to display it with my car.0 -
I put my Terraplane in a streetrod and custom show! Mine was one of only a handful of 'original' cars among about 140 cars, total.0
-
drove my wasp today , had beautiful weather and met up with a handful of regulars out with their brand x cars. wasp ran nice but I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and do a valve and ring job on her.0

drove the 50 Pacemaker down to the local hot rod hangout saturday night,
"The Suds" in greenwood, indiana.
had a big croud around it as most people have never seen a hudson big six let alone one thats built up with Clifford parts.
put about 30 miles on it. always a ball to drive her around.

R. Ride!! I moved my Hudson 1 foot, pushed motor (308 with Edmunds intake, Clifford's headers, motor painted red and black) on stand 3 feet, moved trans, moved box with clutch, press. plate, flywheel and t. out bearing, done by Doug, the "Clutch Man". Doesn't count, but than who is COUNTING?0

Just got back from driving mine, again....
Picked up my little girl from preschool, as I drove by the playground area, it was pretty cool seeing all those 4 and 5 year olds yelling "Doc Hudson"
She musta felt like a little princess getting in the hudson while all of her classmates watched in awe, as we pulled away.
Then I went over to the local gas station, pumped a few dollars into it (mine is and always has been slow to fill, last time and this time I dropped the tank, it usually takes me 4 stops to fully get it filled, but oh well....
An older woman approached and said "What year hudson you got there?"
I told her it was a 50, all original, (well, it looks original, with the faded paint, etc...)
She told me that her dad bought one new in 50, same color, and would shift like an automatic, (supermatic drive I told her....) and he kept it till he traded it in on a 54, which she remembered being real quick, but her dad always liked the 50 much more. It sounds like the 54 sat and rusted after it became less than usefull for the family, one of those projects where her dad was going to get around to fixing it up, and never did.
All in all, pretty good story.
Here's my goal for the year... 1500 miles this summer.
(even with the work I plan)
The official starting point is 79012
let's see how I do.0 -
I had the Jet out to run some errands last night, but I did put over 600 miles on it 2 weekends ago (Western Regional). It's running really nice now that it has a rejuvenated distributor with 6V Pertronix done by Russ and Randy Maas. Thanks Guys!0

i sat in my 52 and pretended that i could drive her out of the garage. : ( my goal is gettin her running by late june. -john0

Heck, I drove it a few more times today, as well. I took it on a good 30 miles round trip, with no problems, except for sitting in traffic a bit, stop and go, which always makes the clutch "known" I personally think it might be time for a clutch fersure when the OD goes back in. I also think I need mounts, all around.
I got a lot of work to do....0 -
I took mine out on Sunday to drop off one my daughters friends. He really gets a kick out of the Hudson so I make it a point to go for a ride every time he is around.
Last weekend we took our family and two of the neighbor kids out for a 60 mile or so round trip. We went to a fellow HETr's house to kick some tires, then stopped for ice cream on the way back. The kids are very amused at all of the thumbs up and waves we get.
Wednesday night is the local cruise night again, so we should be hitting that as well.
My goal for the year is a conservative 1000 miles. I put almost 400 already, so it should be quite easy.

Yikes.... no more driving the hudson until I go thru the front end better. I just did my bearings in my center mount for the steering, and let's just say I was scared for what I found.....0

Took our 49 Commodore out last fri. nite to the local A&W for a bite to eat
and a small cruise nite. Storm popped up right on top of us and soon there
was pea size hail bouncing off the car. The hail stopped and rain slacked off
just long enough for us to get back to the car and head for the house. As
soon as we got back on the road it started coming down in buckets. The
308 twin H was happy through it all and the wipers(that I went through last
summer and had never used) worked great(at least as far as vacuum wipers
go). Sat. morn pulled it back outside and opened it all up to let it dry out good.
Had a leak around pass door and in the trunk, nothing terrible though. Funny
thing is that it was raining so hard , the car was absolutely clean, all I did was
run the duster over it before we headed out to the downtown Winter Haven
cruise sat. nite. Oh had aguy come up with a new grille treatment concept
that I'll share here.0 -
well its the weekend here and I drove all my body panells to the paint shop to receive there new coats of paint, does this count LOL0
