SALE:std flywhl prepped for 700R4 or 2004R
This is a std shift flywheel with the ring gear tack welded (see X's), plus it has been drilled (see arrow heads) for the 3 bolts to bolt the torque converter to the flywheel. This work was done by Custom Engineering in Memphis, Tn.
This flywheel is to be used with the conversion kit that Dany Spring sells to convert the Hudson 308 or 262 or 232 engines to the GM 4-spd automatic tranny's.
I was going this route but decided to do something different.
I have $ 185 in it, so best offer before it goes on ebay is to you Hudson Classic Car folks.
PM to me is fine
thanks
john

Thought I'd move this back to the top of the ladder for any of you to consider who want to upgrade the Hudson tranny for better gas mileage, etc:
The output on my factory, DG-200 (3-bander w/lockup convertor) is 1.0
The output for the Hydra-matic was even HIGHER (less energy efficient and uses even MORE gasoline) because the non-locking torque convertor slips some.
700-R4 (w/lockup convertor yields output at 0.70)
200-R4 (w/lockup yields output of 0.67 for even better mileage) i.e., up to
~ 1/3 better gas mileage than the Hydra-matic, according to my calculations.
The eng transplant 262 cu in, 4.3L, V6, GMC w/~200 hp and 700-R4 tranny, that's going into my 54 Super Wasp this Fall should get 25-30 mph, at least I'm HOPING and praying!! I installed a new, single-roller Cloyes timing chain and 2 underdrive pulleys; other than those changes it'll be PURE STOCK, even stock EX manifolds too. Time will tell, and "the proof is in the pudding" as they say. Back to the Resto-Mod for now.0 -

John,
I'm hoping for similar numbers with my 5.7L "Vette" LTI which a Corvette guru told me should get 24-26mpg w/ a 3.08 rear end. Almost doubles the mpg of my Range Rover Classic! Of course, those numbers go way to hell if my foot gets a bit heavy on the gas on that long lonely stretch of highway between the Phoenix Metro Valley and L.A.! LOL
