Transportation Ideas Needed

I need to get my '40 from its storage place in Southern California to Santa Fe. (850 miles). Renting a trailer one way turns out to be more difficult than I expected, but that would still be my first choice. Other options would be paying somebody to bring it out, which I'm willing to do if I can afford it; driving it, which is possible, but I'm reluctant to try; or using a tow dolly, which I don't want to do. I'm also looking for a trailer locally which I can haul to Calif. and pick up the car. (That's about $500 in gas, but c'est la vie.)

If you have any additonal ideas or hear of somebody coming this way with an empty trailer (which would hopefully reduce my cost) I'd be glad to hear about it. Thanks!

    Sam,

Why NOT drive it? If you have the time to check things over first, you'd probably be alright with no problems.....and if something happened along the way, you'd have a great article for the WTN!

SamJ, I had my Hudson shipped from CA. to GA. It was 2,360 and cost me less that $900. I did give them ample notice, but they picked it up earlier than I expected. I would think it would cost a lot less to ship the 850 miles that you need it shipped. Send me a PM if you want the information about the carrier. Richie.

I'm with hudsonguy Sam - I see a Route 66 trip in your future!!! As he says, a great WTN article.
