Doc's Hudson

As many of you may know, the H-E-T organized a "TCR", trans-continental run, in 1967 to coincide with the promotional run made 50 years earlier by Hudson. This was obviously taken at some point along the run. The run started in the east coast and ended up in California. Some people ran it for the entire length, others joined it at certain points, and dropped off later on. One of several people who participated in the run was our WTN columnist Richard Polese.
The lettering on the side of the car was done by DeLisle "Doc" Daugherty, who was a sign painter by trade. Doc's old car now resides at the home of an H-E-T member in Maryland. Doc was the H-E-T's second president and a tireless promoter of Hudsons. He had owned an Essex boattail speedster as a young man. A terrific fellow, and the Club was very lucky to have latched onto him!0 -
Matt - I would bet the second picture was taken at the Huntington Indiana National Meet in 1966. The car is lettered up promoting the Transcontinental Run from coast to coast that several members participated in commemerating the 1916 Transcontinental Run of the Hudson Super Six.

For your Info. Doc's 54 is still around and is owned by a Maryland HET member. We used the car a few years ago for a Doc's meet plaque. Car is in running condition (atltho is hasn't been out in years) but does need a paint job. Seems Doc had the car painted 3 times while he owned it...no body thought it was necessary to strip off the old paint. Needless to say, the last paint job didn't hold up too well.0
