54 Hornet fuel level sender unit

I am restoring a 1954 Hudson Hornet. I need a fuel level sender unit. I have been told that a sender unit out of an early ford v8, i.e. 1936 to 1955, will work in the Hudson. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true is there a specific one to buy?

    Hi , Dennis Carpenter in Concorn N.C. !-800-476-9653 you will need part # 99A-9275 gas tank sending unit. Cost in 2004 was $45.00 including shipping You will need to bend arm on this to match Hudson unit, arm may need to be shortened. Hace yuo thaught about joining the NorthWest Chapter of HET club?
