eng, trans, drivetrain
I have had no response to my offer to sell an approx mileage 17,000 commodore 8 eng, trans, drivetrain. I t may have drivemaster trans I do not know how to tell. We will be removing it soon and it will have to be junked. The trans has some weird linkage on the driver side of engine. Thanks

Did you advertise this in the WTN? While there are maybe a couple hundred 'regulars' here at the Hudson Forum, you have 3500 Hudson people reading the WTN. It is astounding to imagine that no one would have any interest in a 17,000 mile Hudosn Eight engine!0

would you please advertise it at the Hudson 8 site on Yahoo.
Inc. price & location.0 -
I know this guestion has been ask before.............But I do not remember the details. A jet owner friend of mine ask "what is the non-hudson fuel pump that can be installed on his car.
Thanks

At the risk of sounding like a PITA, the fact that this car is not only a fairly rare Commodore 8 coupe, it also has drivemaster, which means it was a pretty well optioned car in its day, and the Commodore 8 was the top of the line, except for convertibles. The car would be worth far more as an original with some work on the interior, since you note it has some dry rot, than as a street rod. I believe if you put the info in the WTN you would find someone that would trade you a Hornet Coupe or Hard top for your car plus some $$. Unfortunately, I already have one Commodore 8 with Supermatic (Drivemaster+OD), not 17K miles, but 35K, and my wife says no more cars. Otherwise I would definitely be interested in working a deal with you.
I am definitely not against street rodding Hudsons or anyother car for that matter, but I hate to see something as rare as this one getting cut up. Again, this is probably one of the lowest (top 5 anyway) original mileage stepdowns still in existance, and I am willing to guess it is probably the lowest mileage C8 Coupe left.0 -

are you throwing it away if nobody offers you any money for it?
why didn't you just buy a '49-'51 Mercury in the first place?0 -
where do you live ?0

Have you priced them lately? The Hudson is a nice lower cost alternative to the Merc. And its kind of nice to have something a little unusual to play around with. The unibody Huds are more of a challenge to rod, but thats why we do it, right?
I was fortunate that the running gear out of my Pace has gone to a good home. Otherwise, it would have been tossed out as a rather large boat anchor.

I might be interested. I am coming to Fort Leonard Wood the last week of June. I will have an empty van.0 -
Commodore8, I have not seen you reply to any of the questions that have been asked. Where are you located ? How much do you want for the drive train ?

I also would like to know what you are asking for it. I live in Mountain Home, AR - think you are not that far from me. I have a working "8" in my car, but a low mile engine sounds attractive.
Far as the transmission - you might have one of those manual trans that are shifted by a vacuum operated mechanism. Not sure what Hudson called it - Shift-O-Matic or something like that. I heard that they are tough to get operating correctly and didn't work that well right from the factory. From what I remember, you could use the mechanism that operated the clutch for you, or just use it in the manual mode.
Let me know what you are asking for the engine - and "maybe" the trans also.

The WTN is the White Triangle News. It is the news magazine of the Hudson Essex Terraplane owners association.
See : http://www.hudsonclub.org for more information on joining the group.0 -
Does it run or is it stuck? Have you heard it run? What are you asking for the motor?0

I had an interest when we talked on the phone, but I've never been one to price other people's merchandise for them. It's likely that has been the issue for other possible buyer's, as well. Maybe things would be different dealing with you, but past experience has taught me that offering a certain amount of money in the absence of any indication of what a seller is expecting simply gives the seller a platform with which to leverage others.0

Commodore8:
PLEASE respond to the requests for a price quote. Depending on shipping issues, there are at least three people now interested.
Thanks.............0 -
Scrapped it might bring $100, just fwiw.0

I just wish Commodore8 would reply. I have not seen it listed on E-Bay.0 -
Maybe he went on vacation or something. Seems odd that he doesn't reply, yet there is interest in his stuff.0

Yes, it seems odd. I am interested so I can use the engine a learning tool to help learn how to rebuild an engine. But I am willing to help deliver it to an East coast buyer if I am "out bid" because I am going to Central Missouri in late June and will have an empty van that will have plenty of room.0 -
Could it be that this is not real? Has anyone seen this car or pictures of it.0
-
what are you asking for it?0
-
I do not know what WTN is, sorry. I would love to advertise in it. Thanks0
-
It is real, I bought the car off ebay last springl. We have some documentation back to 64. It was bought then and put in a new car show room. We are going to keep it stock looking, but changing the drive train. We have a LS2 with auto going in, and ford 9" rearend, camaro sub, leather interior and etc. Thanks0

I like the difference of the Hudson and the equivilent in a 50 Merc with no rust and original would be $30,000 not the $10,000 I paid. I bought it before the movie came out. Thanks0
-
Thanks, it seemed alot cheaper to fix up a $10,000 straight car than a $2,000 rust bucket. I bought it last spring for $10,000. I could not afford a Merc. and everyone I have talked to has said start with the best body with the least amount of rust with the most original parts would be a lot cheaper to redo than trying to fix the alternative.0
-
Sorry it does not have an automatic.0
-
Drives fine. a puff of blue smoke comes out when it first starts. I am located in central Missouri.0
-
Would $1,000 be too much for the entire package, eng, trans, rearend, etc..?\
Thanks0 -
I am in central Missouri near Lebanon, 35 mile from Ft. Leonard Wood. Would $1,000 be too much for the package? Thanks0
