Oil pumps and harmonic balancers
Thought I would start another thread since my Building the 308 thread is getting a little long for most to look at. The motor is apart now and at the machinist for I am sure more bad news. #2 piston came out in two pieces and #5 looks to be a forged unit. Shorter, heavier, three ring and just completely different looking. After thumbing through my service manual the questions came up,should I replace the oil pump and rebuild or replace the harmonic balancer? I haven't seen anyone advertising new pumps though I have always replaced them when I build a new engine. The manual mentions replacing the rubber in the balancer. Can this be done or can a later model unit be made to fit?
Thanks,
Thanks,

I have been speaking with Randy and he is putting a parts package together for me. I'll run the pump and balancer by him. Should talk to him in a day or so.0

I had the front of my stroker crank turned down and installed a Fluiddamper for a small block Chevy.0
