Hello,

one short question: I want to change the tyres of my 52 pacemaker into wide white-walls. The size is 8,2 x 15.

The normal size is 7 x 15 (?) i think... ?

Is that possiple on the same wheel rim?

Thanks a lot

Hudsonly

Now i know a little bit more.

The standart size is 7.60 - 15. My reserve tyre is that size.

    Actually i have 205 / 75 /15 on it.

I think there is no Problem with the bigger size 8.20 - 15. The guy who sells the tyres to me, said that the diameter difference between 7.60 - 15 and 8.20 - 15 is round about 1 inch. The difference between the 205 / 75 / 15 is about 2.5 inches. And the breadth is about 1/2 inch more.

I think i'll make the change.
  • They'll fit on the wheel. You may have fun getting them on or off the rear due to fender clearance. I think 7.10 - 15 was the standard and you can probably get 7.60s on. I'm running R225 - 75 - 15s and struggle to get them on and off the rear. There's several previous threads on tire sizes you can look up

    Standard tires for stepdown's were

    7:10-15, equivalent to 215-75 R15

    Optional tires were

    7:60-15, equivalent to 225-75 R15

    Rims, standard 5x15, optional 5.50 x 15

Thank you for the answers. :)

I know about the other threads about tire sizes. But on everywhere they spoke about radial sizes.

I think i will try the 8.20 - 15 as a second set of wheels. I have some 5.5 inch rims, i will put them on it. If driving is too bad with the diagonal 8.20 - 15 i am even able to put back on the radials.

It seems like nobody tried to put the 8.20 - 15 with the 5.5 rims on a hudson. So i will do. I hope the car does not "swim" too much on the street. :D

And i hope that the bigger diameter of the 8.20ies helps to bring the rpm of my engine a little bit down...
