Drag racing at Muncie last night...

Guys,

I had a really good night drag racing last night at Muncie. The 50 Pacamaker is coming around nicely now that I have my electrical issues corrected.

While its still slower than it should be it is very consistant.

It ran three 17.85's in the 75's in a row during pratice. Considering the

vehicle weight, 1200rpm stall speed of the converter and the 3.55 gears I am happy with these times. There is a TCI 2200-2400rpm stall converter in the garage just waiting to go in and I know that would help drop the 60ft times quite a lot.

I put a 17.84 dial-in on it and left it all night long.

The first pass I had the guy beat so bad that I totally lifted out of the

throttle and coasted across the line with a 18.118 at 61 mph. My reaction time was a .011 to his .324.

The air was real heavy as this was the first pass in the dark. The weather station said it would slow down and the 60ft, 330ft & 660ft times were a little slower.

The second pass I raced a friend of mine (Wayne) in a tube chassis 1959 Ford Fairlane 2dr with a 424 cid FE with Enderle fuel injection! Talk about a total miss-match as he had to set and wait 6.5 seconds before chasing me down.

My reaction time was .023 to his .478. Wayne knew he missed it bad and ran it out trying to catch me. His car is dark blue and I had a hard time finding it in my mirrors but when I did I knew he was going to blow by me big time so I hit the brakes right at the line. He ran a 11.45 on a 11.55 dial-in while I ran a 17.89 at 73mph and took the win. Based on the 60ft, 330ft & 660ft it would have run another 17.85-ish again.

The third pass was against a 2002-ish Camaro Z28-SS that was dialed 13.99.

I was set on kill mode to win but had a -.001 red light. I did run it out and ran another 17.852 at 76.01mph. I had more than enough room to pump him at the big end as his reaction time was .192. At this time there were 12 cars left so if I had won there would have been three rounds of eliminations left.

I can tell you guys that I am happy with the consistancy. I did notice the air quatity did have a effect on the way the engine felt during the first 60ft but it was not real noticeable in the 60ft times. It had five 60ft times that were with in a couple of thousands of a second.

Now if I can just get her off the starting line without red lighting I will be one happy Hudson Camper!

Can't wait to see you all at Muncie on the 25th. I'm tired and going back to bed as we didn't get home until 1:45am last night.

Man, thats consistency! Way to hit the tree for a footbraker!

.001,a perfect redlight. I know that sucks but you were right there.

You obviously know the bracket game. How long have you been dragging?

A Hudson going rounds, thats just Too Cool.
  • Thanks For The Comprehensive Report, Thought I Was There. Congratulations And Keep It Up, Bill Albright
  • Good Job. Trying To Get The '41 Ready This Week. I Might Make It. Does Muncie Have Alcohol At The Track. No Not For Me, For The Car.

  • Randy,

Oops sorry I forgot to get back to you about this. Talked to Roger last

night and all they have is racing gasoline.

There is a speed shop here I deal with that can get it. I can find out for

you but I only have one 5 gallon fuel jug and that won't last two passes!

I was actually ready to go racing today but the only track to run at is the

biggest $h!t hole you have ever seen.

    talk later,

PaceRacer--Actually my 41 can get 3 or 4 passes on 5 gallons. Its a conservative Republican. I'll bring plenty--Thanks for checking.
