Auto Trans ?

No, they purchased from GM and, after a fire at the Hydramatic plant, from Borg Warner. Hydramatics are dual-range 4 speeds. Although parts are available for both, trying to find someone who knows what to do with them is another story.0

Some info on Hudson auto trans. 1951 Hydramatics are single-range 4 speeds. 1952-'54 Hydramatics are dual-range 4 speeds and the Borg Warner Automatic Drive was used on some '54 Hudsons. The Borg Warner Automatic Drive was mostly used on 1950-'55 Studebakers. The way to tell if you have 1954 with a Hydramatic or a Borg Warner Automatic Drive is that the shift indicator will say "Dual Range Hydra-matic" and "N 3DR4 Lo R" if car has a Hydramatic. The Borg Warner transmission cars shift indicator said "Automatic Drive" and only "DR" no 3,4 with a Park position I believe.0
