or how about this angle...



anyone have a good suggestion as to what to use (modern part, headlight relay, etc... ) to make this work?



I'm down to this being the only part i need at this point, just want to build my wiring harness, and get the floor pan back in.

    Email me at mmittge at compprime dot com, and we'll come up with something. I have been accumulating overdrive parts for some time, and I've got what you need. Especially if you're not just "over the top" about something being "correct", as opposed to something that will just do the job. Are you 6V or 12V? Mike

    Ouch! Last time I bought one of these at NAPA it was about $30. It's intended as a 12v relay, and has plenty of current capacity, 30A, as I recall. It might work on 6v, but you can expect shorter service live.

    The overdrive relay from '50 onwards is a simple single contact switching relay with a fuse in series with the contacts. Any heavy duty relay, such as headlamp type will do the job. The relay supplies voltage to the solenoid.

    Geoff, the problem we have here is finding that simple 6v SPST relay in the parts stores. I and some others have done a fair bit of searching for a decent relay of this type, intended for 6v at the coil and contacts rated at 20A or better. I have yet to locate one from a source that most of our members would have access to.

    Try NAPA and ask for a 6V Ford starter relay. I got one a couple of years ago for another application, not for a Ford but it did the job.

    yeah, I know the seller. It's Bob Kirchner's son, really sure. Spring grove is a 35 mile drive, across the river. I'd go pick it up, maybe get a ride in his son's 53 conv....
