Vapor Lock

Recently my car has been giving me fits....And this problem just started happning...... It seems that when the car gets up to temperature It just shuts down completely and will NOT start.. After it cools down It will start again but shuts down as soon as it warms up.

I have never had this problem before.... Fuel filter has been replaced and is clear, and it appears that I have adequate fuel flow at least at idle..

Is it possible that I am experiencing Vapor Lock for the first time or is it an indication that the Mechanical Fuel Pump may need replacement?

THANKS,

Tom

....so, Tom, try to arrange things so it gets hot in your driveway, after a short shopping trip. Let it stall. Immediately, check for a strong spark at the spark plug.

I agree with Jon first. If spark is good then go to your pump. You didn't say what car you have. If you have a stepdown, the AMC pump is stringer than the stock pump. Will probably have to run a regulator on it, but you shouldn't have any vapor lock with it. I am in So Cal which is typically warm, and have nevr vapor locked. Have had the AMC pump since right after I bought the car.
