53 Super Jet 2 door on eBay
There's a rare 2 door '53 Jet on eBay. It looks really rough, but you don't really see these that often.

I spotted that and almost posted it, but that condition and being a Jet is destined for that big Hudson ranch in the sky. Now a little better condition with Twin H and a stick, might get me interested but only if the Hornet doesn't kill me first.0

So a barn/garage find (judging by the dirt and that the steering wheel's not ruined by the sun) that's sat since 1963 (per tag on plate) that's in better shape than the '49 Six coupe I have here in the garage now, a 2-door to boot, and some people still think it's a junk parts car or should just be scrapped whole? If that condition is too rough, especially for that cheap price, may I suggest only buying a mint previously restored car? I mean, to each their own and all, but let's not be silly. If it was a local car, I'd be bidding on it.
If the motor turns, change the fluids and rubber and do a complete brake job on it, and you'd have a driver, or be real close to it. Given you can still find cheap 4dr parts cars, it wouldn't be that hard to change it to a manual and put whatever intake you wanted on there. I looked at one of these, a 4dr, just the other day in about the same shape, but no motor or trans, and tried to get a price out of the owner.
Thinking about changing my signature to something like this, "It amazes me what people think is junk because the paint's not shiny and all one color."0 -
it doesn't look that bad to me. I think that when people don't see fresh paint, clean painted engine, nice interior, they start saying look how horrible it is.
seems that the body even looks relatively solid on this as well.
If it were close, I would buy it, shoehorn a 308 in, and use it as a daily driver.0 -
I agree it doesn't look too bad. I think a Jet would make a great daily driver.

I'm just being realistic. Sure it can be fixed if you have the abilities,$$$$ time and room. There aren't too many out there that would taclke this, especially in the Hudson world. Most Hudson people are older and aren't interested in tackling big projects and most don't like Jets either, even though I have a little soft spot for them. I hear what you are all saying as I have always bought beaters and started resurrecting them. Some got done and some didn't. Some I have now are works in progress. As you get older it is just hard to find the time because there are so many other responsibilities. Room isn't something we all have either for these kind of projects. I spent some more $$$$ for what looked like and I was told was a better car and I might as well have spent much less and started with something like this.0

I'll bet Ed Souers wishes his Jet convertible was this rough!0

I don't know....
when you compare this to some of the cars that others are doing, on this board, this one looks great.0 -
I hope that some HET'er does end up with this Jet. I don't have the time or garage space to commit to this car, but it's too rare to let go to the rodders or the crusher.
I have an old WTN from the 70's with a pic and a story of a '53 Jet 2 door in a junkyard. The jist of the story was to prove that Hudson actually produced a 2 door Jet in 1953.0 -
I've got too many going right now, too. I've got a 318 Mopar that would go nicely in this one. That, or a 3.9L Mopar V-6 and an OD auto from a Dakota. Install and drive the crap out of it...
This car IS only 13 hours away...0 -

Hey, I saw that. Yes I bought 3 1954 Jet 2 doors to put the convertible back together with. By the way, it is a rolling chassis again, and one day soon will be ready for paint!0 -

I never did see your 1932 Hudson at the Nationals and I sure wanted to see it. Did I miss it ? Maybe next time I hope. Ron0 -
I started out with it on Monday to take it up, and at a stoplight when shifting the transmission broke. One of the forks inside gave out. So I could only use reverse. I was so disgusted I trailered it back home, and havn't touched it yet. I plan to take it to Mass next year.0

I did almost the same with my 29 only I did not have to trailer her because her was already home. LOL I broke the top of the vacuum tank while trying to fix a leak and it sat in the corner of the garage for 10 years after that. Now I am glade I have it on the road again and back with the Hudson fine folks that they have always been. Hope to see and maybe ride in that fine 1932 Hudson next year. Ron0
