Hudson 1951 value?

I have a 1951 Hudson Super Six that belongs to my father that I want to sell. I need some help to determine a value. The car is 98% original parts, a little superficial rust, no body rust. Car has 90,000 miles, is started periodically, has an oil leak on the front main bearing. Has been stored for the last 37 years in a barn in California. Originally came from Kansas (Grandpa’s car). Any help in determining the value will be greatly appreciated. You can view photos at http://www.freewebs.com/dyan83/hudson.htm

That car looks great! If you put it on ebay [with a safe reserve of course] you will certainly get some indication of market value. Especially being a coupe, it should generate some good interest. You could also ask for offers/tenders.

Is the '40 Plymouth also for sale? Paul.

Yes. The car is in Fresno Calif. in the central valley.
  • Someone wanted to give me $1500 for the Hudson but that seemed a bit low to me. The Plymouth is a 1940 business coupe and may or may not be for sale depending on whether my brother wants it.

    thanks Phil

I'm sorry ~ I gotta ask...with the family history and given the general good condition of the car why not keep it and fix it for a driver at least.

I know a full restoration can be major $$ and time - but to get it to a driving state wouldn't be all that difficult or costly and then it stays in the family.

I'm only asking because I continually kick myself in the butt for not asking to keep my Grandparents 64 Impala SS that they bought from the factory, I have many good memories of that car and wish I had it.

Here's a picture of my Grandpa with the car - I bet you have tons of family pictures with the Hudson in it...

Looks to me like an AMC Hornet or Gremlin in the background - the copper colored one 2 cars over from the white Chevy.

I'll take a stab at this...

51 super 6, coupe, last year of the super...

coupes are desireable, looks to be pretty solid, all there...

    running with hydro,

I would venture, say $3500-5000 price range, maybe more, depending on who's in the market at the time...

He was in that picture - I believe it was taken in the early 80.s

He was really more like the father I didn't have growing up because my father passed away when I was 6 from luekemia. I learned my love of working on cars from spending hours and hours in the garage at the farm working on the Impala or other hot rods he owned.

Sadly he passed away in 1996 and my grandma sold the car to the Lemay's of the Lemay's Car Mueseum in Tacoma Washington.

I don't know what happened to the car as it's not listed in the mueseum registry and I have tried several times via email to get information on the car but they won't return my emails.

I may just have to go in person and see what I can find out someday...but I still wish it was in the family and in my garage :(
