If you're looking for a decent project this might be a good one...

Dan & Rambo the Dog, thanks for the "possible" lead. That's "more" of a project than I would like. I already have one like that in the works since 1996 and it'll be a few more yrs yet to complete. I would prefer a "ready to go" drivable car. It's appears to be on the west coast and I'm located in GA. Did u attend the HET National meet recently in Auburn IN? oscar0

Nah -- not yet my car is still in pieces. After an 8 week layoff I'm gearing up to get the final fabrication finished - I still have a long ways to go!0 -
Oscar,
If your looking for a car you can tour in right away, try http://www.chicagoclassiccars.com/inventory_show.asp?stknum=CC119
.
Not cheap but if the kids didn't want to go to college, I would have bought it myself.

I would have to actually see the car but if it is as nice as it looks, that is not a bad price. I bought a car off of this forum just off description and photos. I too only wanted a decent driver, not restored but not a junker. I have done nothing for the last year but work on it and spend money. As soon as I complete the motor, off the top of my head, I will have between 15 and 20,000 in it not counting my labor (which you never can). It still will barely be between a #2 and #3 car. This one appears to be much nicer, but photos can be more deceiving than I had ever thought. This car also has some nice options, mine is just a strippo Hornet Special. Might want to try Lance Walker (Hudzilla). He is in North Carolina and is a real wiz with the stepdowns. I would talk to him about this one or maybe he will know of another one. Good Luck!0

I agree looks nice for the money but it has some issues.... Wrong engine color.. Looks like a 53 ,52 ,51 engine... Should be red... Interior fabric looks strange..., also wrong color steering wheel. should be red... Still a good buy for the money....0
-
Also , this is a 12v system .....0

Steering wheel is fine. My friend has a red 54 Hollywood it came from the factory with the same ivory steering wheel. Must have been an option.0

You guys are GREAT! Am over-whelmed with kind responses and leads. The car at Chicago Classic Cars is "top" prospect. I'll be in Auburn IN latter this month and will be convenient for me to drive up to Chicago for an inspection. I'll post observations of inspection then. Thanks. I look forward to meeting some of you at HET meets!! best regards, oscar0

Add to the list: wrong Hornet emblem on the pass side front fender. It should be 'leaning' forward, not backwards.0
-
bull islander, could u better descibe what u are seeing; I can't tell from the pic that the "Hornet" script is not straight, if that's what ur referring to. Trying to understand more about the Hudsons...thanks, oscar0
-
Tim (hudnut1tmr), I'm too late on hardtop at Chicago Classic - it has been sold!
Called ths mourning for additional info and schedule visit to inspect the car the wk of Aug 20th...the hunt continues.
Thank you for a great lead!

What Did It Sell For ? That Was Cheap0
-
Don't know. Didn't ask. Once I was told it had been sold it became irrelevant other than general knowledge about valuations. You might say I was so disappointed to learn that it was already sold I felt defeated!0

I agree with you , the 54 Hornet Hollywood is best of the Hollywoods. You could get it with Hydro , power steering , power brakes and twin H.... You get the great stepdown hadling and all the goodies on the long wheelbase car. I think that conv't 's were Hollywoods that they deroofed.... So you also get all the rigidity of the platform for handling. It's the complete pkg...0
