Coolant Leak at Pump

I have had the Pacemaker up on jack stands working on the oil pan, transmission and clutch fluid, front shocks, cleaning etc.....the rear end has remained on the ground.

I now have coolant dripping ever so slowly from the bottom of the pump as it mates the block.

It did not do this when it sat "level" and had all four tires on the ground.

I know I will now take it off and have it looked over, get new gaskets etc....

But should I now be afraid of something else lurking in my engine block?

Oh, the drip DOES go over the timing cover. All timing cover bolts I can reach are tight.

Thanks in advance for all the wonderful advice.

  • Are you sure the leak is at the gasket or from the weep hole and runing back to the mateing surface. More than likely the pump shaft seal is leaking and you will need a pump rebuild.

Weep hole...OK. That will work for me. Since I have to take it off to check it and I do have the $$, I will send off to Hudson Part elves for a rebuilt one.

BTW, any idea as to why it would only leak at an angle?
