A pair of Studes, but interesting anyway...

I just remembered that I wanted to show these two Studebakers to you folks. The subject of Hudson pick-ups reminded me. These auctions are closed now, but they are still available for viewing. The one with the El Camino box on it really quite tasteful, don't you think?

I like the body lines of the first one, but the wheels have to go. Otherwise, seems like a nice car with a really clean look.

If I had to own a Taurus wagon, why not have one that looks cool from the front. I'm glad someone has the time to "Hot Rod" a taurus wagon, but I don't think you ever catch me doing it. It also looks pretty decent, but the back is a bit too bubbly, doesn't come off real well in my opinion.

You're difinitely right about the wheels on the El Camino Stude. Your eyes go straight to them instanly. I didn't realize that before you mentioned it, but they are just a big distraction. It's sort of a lesson in balance and general esthetics, isn't it? The taurus wagon, on the other hand, is just a case of someone having way too much time on their hands.
  • Is someone repo-ing fiberglass frontends for bulletnose studebakers? The El camino has a FG nose according to the ebay ad.
  • I've seen those kits, they have one to put a 49-50 Ford front onto a wedge Thunderbird, they look pretty nice when done carefully. Another vote to lose the cheesey wheels!
