Just received from Sinclair's Auto Miniatures of Eire, PA (www.miniauto.com) Brooklin's lastest 1/43 scale Hudson white metal diecast model of a 1955 Hornet sedan finished in "Coral Red". It's a beauty nicely done with chrome details such as the egg crate front grill, hood ornament, bumpers and the rocket on the trunk lid. Also has a detailed interior and a continental kit on the rear too! Other than the old Dinky toy '57 Hornet from years ago, this is the only diecast model of a Kenosha built Hudson (I'm not considering the '55 Master Caster Hornet promotional model as that one is near impossible to find and you'll probably pay accordingly if you do run across one). No, this model does not have the detail and opening doors, trunk and front hood that the recent 1/18 scale Highway 61 '52 Hornet model possesses due to it being in a smaller scale. And, bear in mind that all Brooklin models are hand assembled in England and consequently the employees of Brooklin are payed a living wage (almost all the latest Brooklin models sell for $99.50-ouch!) versus Highway 61's models being made in China. Brooklin also tends to reproduce in miniature automobile subjects that are a bit obscure and/or rare. Consequently, they've produced in the past diecast Hudson models such as a 1936 Terreplane, 1954 Hudson Italia (why they issued it in silver paint instead of the correct cream color is beyond me!) and their last model before this one, a 1954 Hornet Special Club Coupe. Their next Hudson model to come out in December will be a 1954 Hornet convertable. Brooklin is also seriously considering producing a Hudson Jet as a future release. If you want to view the '55 Hornet or any of Brooklin's 1/43 scale models be they Hudson or Buick or Nash, check out their website at www.brooklinmodels.co.uk or even go on Ebay as many old and new Brooklin models are available there also. Hudsonly, Dan
