I seem to recall that either or both Ford and Chevy for '55-'56 had the same shocks as front for the stepdown. If Ford or Chevy are still listed, take one of yours and match them. I go to napa{"no auto parts available"} to be informed that Hudson parts are obsolete, not available. I go across the street to Auto Zone and they have stuff that napa does not have listed. Do not give up, shocks are out there Unfortunatly, it seems now days that most auto parts stores are accesorie stores to dress up the disposable plastic crap that is being built now that some people refer to as cars.0

Monroe still amkes a gas for the front and a hydraulic for the rear. I don't have the numbers handy, but you can go to Ken Cates site and they are in there.0

According to my Hudson guru's here in the pacific northwest, the schock numbers are as follows; Gabriel Classic part number; Front 82026 and rear is 82060. Someone on here mentioned that Gabriel is no longer available. If so, you may be able to use the aformentioned numbers for a cross reference.

These ARE good numbers at Autozone. I just took these numbers down are paid for them. Gabriels are being made by a "new" owner after a two year "shut down" per the manager of my local Autozone. I told him I had some older Gabriel numbers that need to be cross referenced. These numbers came right up.
The Front 82026 is available in Classic or Gas. The Rear 82060 is in Classic ONLY.
They are all priced at $14.99 each. Not all stores keep them in stock. My local Autozone did not have them. They supposed to be in tomorrow.

my local autozone, I think had both numbers on the shelf, back two yers ago when we bought them. I thought that was a bit odd, but not a problem. I like the gabriels, but I think they sorta come close to bottoming out.0

OK. I will keep watch for this issue. If it happens, I'll put the 5751s up front and try something else on the back end.
Hmm.......I wonder if those slip over/clamp on shock springs tings would work on the back to help (thinking to himself as he types....)

I just installed new shocks on the back of my 1930 Essex. I found the Monroe website very helpful. (http://www.monroe.com/catalog_lookup/ocl_default.asp)
They do list shocks for old Hudsons. They also have a Shock Specifications document that you can download. It lists all the sizes and ends for all their shocks. I just measured the distance between the hole in the frame where the old shock was and the bottom of the spring hold-down u-bolts. I then selected a shock that had that distance about halfway between the compressed and extended length and had looped ends with bushings (5780). They seem to work fine.0
