Step-down Master cylinder # ? ?

I'm wondering if some of the more experienced, long-time Hudson owners could provide me with a good part # for a brake master cylinder for one of my step-down's ? Went out to the garage Sunday and slid in the driver's seat, pushed down on the brake pedal only to feel that sickening experience of a 'spongy' brake pedal ! ! Feels like it's down to the mechanical reserve, so I'd say it's time to round-up some brake parts ! Does Dave Kostansek still have master cyl.'s and wheel cyl.'s with the stainless steel sleeve pressed in ? Thanks for any help with #'s

  • you want a wagner no 3081 over as hundred dollars at your local parts store. you can get them on e bay from as Hudson club member who lists them at 49.95, BILL ALBRIGHT VINTAGE COACH, FONTANA, CA
  • The last time I needed one, I went to NAPA, and waited for the oldest guy behind the counter who knew how to read a book, and he was able to look it up. They had one in stock. I think it was around $50.00.
  • Thanks Bill and Dany, any chance you can provide some part #'s for the wheel cylinders for a '51 Super 6 ? I might as well dive into all 4 corners while I'm at it, then I know I won't have to wonder about these components too ! ! How about #'s for the 2 front brake hoses ? Thanks fella's !

Hudson Axle Seals Dave Kostansek (440 293-4079) has all but the rear inners. For those, I don't know of a current equivalent seal available. Maybe someone else out there has found one. They're still showing up at flea markets within the club. The old NAPA number for rear outer was 49218; it's now CR 17310. Fronts are CR 15960 or National (?) 482253

  • Call Kenny Cordle at 740-983-1700 for a new master cylinder that is identical to the original and very inexpensive. He is a club member and a lot of Hudson club members have bought them and they work great.

  • Many 'Thanks' to all Hudson gents who replied to my question's about the brake parts #'s for the step-down's, little help-ful things like this are what make the H.E.T. club the outstanding organization that it is. Thanks again for the help !
