54 Hornet Radio antenna
My 54 Hornet sedan has the stock Hudson radio but the antenna is mounted on the driver side front fender. Most 54's I have seen have the antenna mounted on the roof. Did they come both ways? If not, then the radio in my car may have been installed at a later time. Your thoughts please.
Thanks,

Depends on the Model.... Is the car Hornet Sedan or a Conv't.... Hollywoods and Conv'ts had both fender and roof mounted....0

If your radio was dealer installed, dealer techs preferred the fender mount antenna rather than fishing the connection around the windshield to a roof mounted unit. Hudson's fender mount was neat, in that it disapeared amost completely down to within 3 or 4 insches of the top of the fender.

According to Bill A. the dealer installed radios had the antenna on the fender but not always. Depended on the dealer. A good friend of mine was working at a radio/T.V. shop when the stepdowns came out, they handeled all the radio work for at least one Hudson dealer in San Francisco. He told me that his boss insisted that they install the header antenna as the factory did.0

Thanks for your feedback. That clarifies it.
