Hello everyone! Thanks for your help...my 1956 Hudson Wasp has transmission problems...it hesitates going from 1st to 2nd but then it really bangs going from 2nd to 3rd--I mean a really sharp jolt. A few local mechanics have said the bands look good, so I'm stumped (and so are they). Anyone have any advice? Thanks much! TJ

  • How can they tell that the bands are good, they must be superman or have x ray vision. The first thing that I would start with is to gat out the shop manual and make sure that throttle pressure is set correctly by the book. Then with the correct hydramatic tools do a pan drop and adjust front and rear bands see if either one of these two things improved operating . There is a possibility of a broken spring inside the front servo, it somewhat slows down the apply when not broken. good luck Lou Cote
