56 Wasp Transmission Problems--Can you help?
Hello everyone! Thanks for your help...my 1956 Hudson Wasp has transmission problems...it hesitates going from 1st to 2nd but then it really bangs going from 2nd to 3rd--I mean a really sharp jolt. A few local mechanics have said the bands look good, so I'm stumped (and so are they). Anyone have any advice? Thanks much! TJ

How can they tell that the bands are good, they must be superman or have x ray vision. The first thing that I would start with is to gat out the shop manual and make sure that throttle pressure is set correctly by the book. Then with the correct hydramatic tools do a pan drop and adjust front and rear bands see if either one of these two things improved operating . There is a possibility of a broken spring inside the front servo, it somewhat slows down the apply when not broken. good luck Lou Cote0
