39 Custom Roadster

Thanks to all of you who provided me input to what I now know as a 1939 Hudson convertible that was turned into a custom roadster in the early 50's. I am still trying to find out information on the car but that issue is for another time and another day. Today, I finished pulling the engine and transmission from the car. I have been told by local Hudson folks that it is not a 39 engine because the distributor is at the back of the engine. Today I located an engine number on the pad above the starter motor (top of block and stamped) that I believe is an engine number. The number is 48 RB 9278842. I expect that it has no value, but I am sure that someone somewhere would like to have back up parts for a car they have. Let me know what best guesses do you have. Could the "48 RB" indicate that it was rebuilt in 1948? any good guesses?
