Rear Drum Puller on Ebay

I just came accross this in ebay listed for Dodge, Ply, Chrysler, etc. It's also what's needed for our beloved Hudsons. Packard and Willys use the same puller, too. Perhaps Studebaker and K/F, I don't know. It's sort of ironic as I was just about to list an extra one that I have.

Hey...How about asking one us Hudson owners first. i would like to have one, even if I may never need one again.
Please send me a PM with the "asking price" and I'll get back with you.
Thanks, Ed0 -

I was going to list it with only Hudson in the title for you guys. I originally bought to donate it the local Hudson club, but they $10,000 in the bank that they don't touch - ever! Whats up with that?
That J C Whitney price is terrific. There's the fella you need to chastise for not sharing that info sooner.0 -
These pullers are a necessary tool of a Hudson owner,
I use one often as I like to know the rear wheel cylinders are in safe condition.
these tools are avaible new at swap meet vendors for $45.00
range.
If a Hudson owner wants to borrow mine , they must be a HET member, This puller is a great tool to obtain new members for the club.

The way people have sought them out in the past made me think that they were in short supply, so I assumed that they weren't available new. Also, I remember one going for over a hundred dollars a couple of years ago. I appologize for wasting anyone's time with this thread.0

I bought mine from these guys on eBay. brand new and in its own case. Looks just like the Snap-On one for $47.99 used it last week worked like a charm. These are not a rare item.

Previous threads have cautioned against using a puller without a "dog bone" to beat on. I have always struck the center bolt on this kind (but not for this application), but experienced guys say you can break the axle by doing so. Don't know personally, never tried it.0 -
Mike, My understanding is that the rear axle on one side has a button in the inner end that will be damaged if you hammer on the outer end of the axle. I have never had one out myself, this is just what I have been told.
I'm sure someone else can explain it better.

I borrowed one from my brother to change rear axle seals. I am going to forget to give it back to him since he never works on his Hudsons anyways.0

You Have any clutch return springs yet? That mount on the clutch and frame. Have a new clutch in it, but don't want to wear out my Throw-Out Bearing !
Thanks!0 -

James P., never be ashamed to have brought an Ebay item to our attention, if it proves to be more common than you thought. The alternative would be to make a snap judgment that it's probably worth 'a dime a dozen' and keeping your mouth shut.
And we all know what the outcome of THAT policy would be, if everyone practiced it!0 -
This wheel puller that I mentioned a number of days ago is up to $100 and (at the time I'm writing this) it still has a day and a half to go. You can see why I thought they weren't making them anymore. Thanks again to whoever mentioned JCWhitney. We should all have one of these. We just shouldn't have to compete for them on ebay.0

Excellent search! No need now for any of us to puzzle over this part of maintaining our cars. Now all we need is a big enough hammer!0
