29 Essex Head

'29 and '30 heads are indentical, but unfortunately are indeed prone to cracking across the top surface from the water manifold to the temperature sender fitting. You can fit a '28 head, but will have to use the relevant gasket, and the outlet pipe will be slightly mis-aligned, and the compression ratio will be slightly lower, but can be compensated for by shaving .060 off the surface. I have never seen an intact '29 head, they are all cracked, whereas the '28's seem much more robust, due to wider section of metal across the surface.
