Hudsonkid update...
So I got the beast running on Sunday afternoon... I was gonna stop over and take hudsondad for a ride, but, about 100 yards from home, the hudson decided to blow out a left rear tire... It really sucked, because I live around hills, and had nowhere to go, so I had to drive around the block on a flat tire. I finally got it into my driveway, and started to change the tire... Well, the spare was flat, then I knocked the car off the jack, then it got too dark (remember that light issue I never really fixed, well, I tried to slip the loose wires back into the prong tab on the dimmer switch, and well, I broke the bendy tab on that. So at that point with diminished daylight, I put the car away for the night...
Today, I got out, started it up, and took it for it's maiden voyage, pushed the OD lever in, and... nothing... I think I got a wiring problem, perhaps, but I'm gonna check the components, first, solenoid, govenor, kickdown, and see where I am at. The car will plain die, when you hit the kickdown, let off and it resumes normal operation, bo OD though... I figure at least it's cutting the coil out, so who knows... More problems, but at least it's running... It was nice driving it for a couple of miles...

It looks like you should stayed in bed on Sunday! I know it's not funny to you, but that day played like a Three Stooges routine. All you needed to make it a complete Three Stooges routine would to to be squirted in the face with oil.
AS far as the overdrive goes it sounds like you have bad overdrive solenoid (pin 6 always connected to ground) or a short to ground on the wire going from the kickdown switch to the overdrive solenoid.0 -
yeah, I really feel it is a wiring problem on my end, but I'm gonna test each component, before I proceed, I got a spare relay (now...) to swap out, I am using the NAPA kickdown, which is where I seem to think the wiring problem may be... Of course, it could be a host of other components, but we'll find the problem.0

I'd check the OD Solenoid FIRST. That will tell whether it will go into OD at all, no matter what else may be wrong.0
