:) I need some more help please. I had the fuel tank completely rebuilt and sealed. I have the engine back together and it will begin to start with some fresh gas down the carburator. But no gas coming through the line. Disconected the fuel pump line to the carb and did not feel any presure, so to the parts store I went. asked for a fuel pump for a '78 AMC Concord and they gave me a car quest number 6737 fuel pump. I also bought about six gaskets for the same and longer mounting bolts. Was unable to install the fuel pump, even when turning the engine so the cam lobe would be at a different positon. It is a real bear to try and hold all those gaskets and bolts at the same time. Did I get the wrong pump? this one is for a six cylinder. Maby I should get an electric fuel pump. There is about five gallons of fuel in the tank and the car has been unused for a little over a year. Thanks for any help and sujjestions. Arnie

I installed that very Car Quest number 6737 fuel pump in my '49 Commodore six coupe. I used a 7/16" spacer. I also found that I needed grind some material off the top inside of the gasket to clear the pump arm. This is probably what is causing your install problem.
