Dual carb Edmunds intake

Hello all,

I have happened across a Edmunds intake for a Hudson. It has been sitting around my shop looking really cool, but now it is time to clean up and find a home for it. Anyone interested? Hopefully the pics come through on this.

If not, I will send them to you. There is a thin spot in one of the runners that will need to be welded up. I really don't like the Ebay thing and would rather go to the source of enthusiasm.

  • This looks great, and I assume the manifold is for a 308 engine. What are the numbers on the carburetors, and do you have air filters and linkage for the set-up? Also how much do you want for the manifold and carburetors?
  • You should put an ad in the WTN.

I love the WTN, but am not a big fan of advertising there because by the time my issue arrives here in the Pacific Northwest many of the items I am interested in are already gone..

Would love to see a web site that was specific to WTN advertisements that would be available to all on an equal basis..

I think Moondog already did. ;)

Are the advantages of the Edmunds intake over stock just material composition and porting?
  • I'm wondering why Moondog didn't put down his asking price. Is he looking for bidders? It may be he is trying to sidepass ebays fees and still have an auction? At least in WTN there would be an asking price.

the edmunds is a 2x2 barrel. ive seen catalogue pictures of a 2x1 barrel edmunds but never seen hide nor hair of one, why anyone would bother when the twin H is 2x1 is beyond me.

I have a NOS Edmunds 2x1 manifold w/ linkage. I will try to post a picture later today if I get a chance. The reason for it is probably 1) it is nicer looking being polished Al than the stock one. 2) it came out I believe before the factory twin-h did.

Seems like there was a thread on this some time back, and the consensus among the performance gurus was that the Twin H actually worked better. The obvious advantage of the Edmunds is the eye-candy factor. Polish that sucker up, polish your aluminum head, and turn a few heads!

OK here are the pics. This is first of the NOS box, not much left, and two of the manifold complete kit. I also have the install/owners manual, which is for all the Hudson manifolds. I have had a couple of the 2x2 manifolds over the years and one that was not NOS but in premo condition with 2 carbs painted red, looked great.

Regarding Edmunds Intake vs Twin H,

I had a dual 1bbl but welded adapters for 2 - 2bbls. I believe Edmunds Intakes were out before Twin H but to 'quote the late Jack Clifford', Twin H intakes were far better than any Edmunds (even dual 2bbls) for speed because of Twin H's better breathing capability. Because of that statement I modified a Twin H for 2 large Rochester 2GC 2bbls. However, Edmunds intakes when polished look awsome for street use & Cruse-In's... Chuck
  • I don't know why but I think three 1 bbl carbs would be the ticket. I had a flathead V8 with three dueces on it and that little puppy would fly. I think three ones or even three dueses would make the 308 crank out some power. Of course I say all this with the full knowledge that I'm having a hard time getting two one bbl carbs tuned correctly. I might just spend my time right now building a hot 308 for the Hash that I can drop into a stepdown when I get one.

  • I have an Edmunds manifold that was on a yellow E-bucket that was once owned by Buggys Jacobson that takes 3 carbs. I'm told this is a once of a kind. Anyone else have one?

My manifold is a 2x1, has a homemade adaptor to make a 3x1. NO name anywhere, different from Edmunds, tho. Camera took a c--p couple of days ago, will post pix later.

A Tri power Edmunds Intake for a Hudson is extremly rare. Share a photo sometime

The late "Terraplane" Kelly Hinegardner had a 1938 Hudson straight 8 with an Edmunds dual carburetor on it. Don't know where the car is now

He had a picture of it on his web site - but it appears that the site has been hijacked by hudguzmet.com/metro1.htm. Shame TK had a pretty good site going.

  • Here are the pictures of the edmunds manifold you requested.

  • Buzz Sthall bought an older mecanical fuel injection unit at the Auburn Nationals for a Hudson. I don't remember if its for a 6 or 8.
