Now here's a barn find in the truest sense of the words !! What car nut wouldn't love to open a creaky old door and find something like this looming in the darkness as your eyes adjust to the gloom.

The pictures are pretty large, but when I tried to downsize them they wouldn't upload to the site !! Go figure !

Anyway, you'll find no shotage of detail, and it worth the wait I hope.

Looks almost like Clyde just ran it into the barn for hiding right after he and Bonnie held up the local bank!!!!!!!!

Cool! The good news is that he's able to stand on the running board, and that the 2 front tires still hold wind.

Incidentally, I just visited the auto museum at Saratoga. They change the theme every 6 mo, and right now it's barn finds. Might be able to see something on their site.

What you see, is all the details I have at the moment, but there's gotta be a great story behind this one ! I'll see if I can get some more details from the owner.

I see that it has a 30 grill to it and no vents at the cowl, thought the rest is 31,my understanding of this car it could be a deluxe sedan, a fitted with the hudson handles and wire wheels, if you check the ratios on the diff and are I think 5.1 :1 it instead of 5,4 :1 would definitaly be a delxue sedan

    Anyones thoughts

    his is definitaley cool find

Looks like maybe a '61 Lincoln in there? Or a '66 or '67 Toronado? The other blue car sure appears to have one heck of a long hood ! Wonder what that is ? Any guesses?

Well -- here's an update !! The Essex sat in the barn for 55 years, until the new owner found her in a local Buy and Sell newspaper, in Northern Ontario, Canada.

Some other cars were in the barn also -- a couple of Lincolns, an Edsel, and a '48 Chrysler. All the cars were part of an Estate sale, and are now sold.

Guess I should be paying more attention to the Buy and Sell !! Hmmmnn - wonder if theres's a section titled Estate Sales ?? :-)

  • The Lincoln pictured appears to be a '66 or '67. I've owned a '62 and a '64. The '61 is much different than the car pictured, and looks more like the '62-'63 cars. Neat Hudson find!

Are you looking at the car in picture two beside the front end of the Essex, Patrick, or the one still lurking in the barn behind it ?

Look very carefully ---- there is treasure peeking out where the keen eye lingers, however briefly.

  • Didn't see the '62 IN the building originally, just saw the Lincoln that was outside.
