WE'RE GETTIN THERE, several things messed up but we're knockin em out . Need a jump start on setting the high speed rod if anyone can get us close. Don't have the carter gauge, but if we had a close measurement to go by to start it would help a lot on zeroing it in-- Anyone get us fairly close on the heigth to the top of the high speed metering rod with it pushed down, throttle closed/engine off ?? Carter WA-! of course Thanks guys Bud-n-Barry

  • THANKS KEN,,been there and it only describes useing the gauge which we don't have. If we just had a close measurement it would give us a head start and I feel pretty certain we could get it doin what it oughta do in a few T+E adjustments, got a pretty good ear from the music I'm into. Not much doubt it's off as other things were not right. Lest it cast a shadow, BARRY DID"NT DO IT, he inherited it. Had to pay the Inheritance tax too !!

If you think it's the metering pin, just manually lift it whilst holding the throttle open. This will allow full fuel flow through the jet. The metering pin is controlled by vacuum and mechanical. When high vacuum, it is drawn down into the jet, and when at full throttle, it is lifted up by the linkage. check that it is going up and down freely, and that you have the linkage set correctly. Good luck,

    Geoff.
  • HI GEOFF, not too much doubt at this point. Yes I understand how the thing works. Setting the linkage is what I was hopeing to get a head start on, a fairly close rod heigth measurement since we don't have the gauge and can't find one. If nobody knows WE WILL GET IT SET SOMEHOW, just take a few more trys. Once we get it smoothed out we can tell where we're at by sound/reading the plugs, all the other indicaters. Thanks B-N-B
