49 - 8 Carb Base Insulator Part #??????

Does anyone know a cross over part number for the carb base plate insulator? I am referring to the thick (1/4" or so) gasket that goes under the carb, to the intake manifold.

I see that Ken Cates' site has one listed for twin H, Delco 3692799. Wondering if that is it or if anyone else has one that will work.

THANKS!

I checked my "8" and found 6 or 7 of the individual gaskets used. Why are these spacers used, and how critical is the depth?? Also does the metal heat shield go below of above the gaskets?

Also I think I found a clutch spring for you, when you send me your address, I will send it with the spark wire holder.
  • There is a gasket that goes between the heat shield and the carb, and I have that. What I am lookin for is the thick insulator gasket. It has to be that thick because A.) it is designed to absorb the heat, and B.) the carb studs are too long without it.

BTW, the delco part number for the twin H carbs is not good for an 8. So I still need some help.....been to three parts stores and nobody can cross it over. Anyone out there have a thought or two as to who might have them or what the modern part number might be?

The 8 would be the same as the 6 single carb. Dave Kostansek should be able to help you, or http://www.antiquepartscellar.com
  • Use 4 carb gaskets under the plate and 3 or 4 between plate and carb. When the cars were new these gaskets were just stapled together.
