Problems since upgrade
I don't know if anyone else is experiencing problems since the upgrade the other day. Now every time I enter the forum I have to sign in, remember me doesn't work. Plus if I check my mail and come back I have to sign back in. Is this just a problem for me. I haven't changed any of my settings on the computer so I don't know what happened. I still like the forum but it is a pain to have to sign in every time I leave the screen I'm in.

Harry:
I am not sure how this site tracks your machine, but there are several ways, one of which is cookies... if you have the cookies turned off and the site requires it to allow ID of your machine the problem you are experienceing will always occur. You might want to send a PM to Jon the moderator and ask him to have CCM staff check out why you are having the problem... I had the sign in denial immediately after the change, once I signed in again, I can come and go and be reckognized... hope this helps.0 -
Not sure, I had to sign in only once few days ago then entry been been same as before upgrade; May be your system....0

Crud, now if I click on reply it kicks me out and I have to sign in again, then I get redirected to the main forum page and have to click on Hudsons, then the thread, then hope I don't have to go through it again. I don't know what is going on. I hope Jon sees this thread and takes pity on me. I'm not a computer dummy and I would know if I had made changes to my computer. It must just be me but that doesn't make it any better.

I now have to sign in each day. And if I read any mail it places a pop up in the screen that has to be canceled before I can go on. So rest assured it is not only you...0

Brownie; I was about to reply and tell you the problem had cured itself when I went back to the sign in screen. I think it has to do with clicking on the link from an e-mail. At least until just now I haven't been kicked off all evening. Something has surely changed in the last few days.

Brownie, thanks for the info on the 308 cyl.head.
Also on the write-up you did in the WTN on the 39 Hudson Custom.
Tha sparked me to search for a Hudson that i saw many many years back. It was in a old body shop in El Paso Tx the front end was covered with JUNK but the sides of the body looked just like the one in WTN.
SO,I with the help of the local HET owners will start our search and if found will let all know. Thanks for the history. (was the one i saw the one you have ???? Hudsonly to all Rudy0 -
I have to sign in everytime I start Explorer. I never had to before0

Harry clear your cookies and your cache and login again to set a new cookie. You should be good to go after that.0
-
Mmm, cookies...0
-
I've not noted any recent change in behavior, but that's not necessarily good! The thing hasn't remembered me but once every month or so since forever. And yes, cookies are enabled and I don't have this problem anywhere else.0
-
Nope. clearing the cookies and the cache and signing back in didn't fix anything. If I leave the computer in the website and walk away for awhile I have to sign back in. What a pain. Oh well, I do have to clear the cookies now after signing in for a couple of days or I have a cookie for every time I sign in.

To those having problems - I have a couple of questions
Do you have broadband always on connection like Cable or DSL or using dial up?
After the site refresh I did have to log back in but haven't had any issues since.
When you view the cookie file what does is the expiration date? If you look at this image you can see that the cookie for my login doesn't expire for 2 years which is what I'd expect when I checked "remember"0 -
Dan; I am on DSL, it has gotten to the point now that if I don't post every few minutes, not sure of exactly how long, but if I don't post then if I reply to a post I have to sign back in. I'm not staying logged in even if I don't leave the site. I guess I'm going to have to live with this until there is another upgrade.

I'm sorry that so many people seem to be having a problem with the Forum. Actually, I haven't noticed any for quite awhile, but maybe I'm just lucky! One thing I did that seemed to help in a lot of these "sign-in" websites, is to start using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. I discovered that -- without any prompting -- Firefox "remembers" me at a lot of places where I previously had to stop, sign in, and remember a password. Since it's free to download this, and since you are in no way locking yourself into it (just put the icon on your desktop and double-click, whenever you want to open the internet; you can select any of a number of browsers in this fashion, opening up lots of internet windows at the same time) -- you might want to give it a try.
As to DSL, I have that as well, and I've never had to sign in twice during the same session. Actually, I never have to sign in, ever.0 -
Whatever the problem way--mine cleared up? Never will figure out these computer things.....0

My problem has only gotten worse, if I'm don't post for 10 minutes and try to reply to someone I have to sign in again. I've just come to the conclussion that I have to sign back in every time I try to do anything and if I don't then I'm on a lucky streak. I am using firefox so that isn't the answer. It's still better than yesterday afternoon when the site was down until this morning. Maybe I'm on forum probation?
