49 Hudson pick-up?

Picture taken recently in eastern michigan. Anyone know the truck? Doesn't look like a bad job on it. Owner claims it's a factory job, but don't they all! I'm just sharing, you don't have to pick it apart. Hudsondad.

Hudsondad asked me to post this up. Not sure where he found this, or any other details, here's the picture, post away....

(BTW, I don't think it's a factory job...)

  • Hudsondad... is the vehicle forsale? Anymore information about the condition, drive train etc? I left a 49 coupe, when I did a permanent change of station from Omaha Ne to Texas, that was turned into a pickup... crude job... diamonplate and plywood ... paint any pictures?

    Nice looking job...
  • I guess we need to pick this one apart.....

    hmmm...

    later horsecollar, i

s the door a sedan door? fender looks like 2 door length.
  • My sister in law sent it to me, and no other info than what I gave. No other pics and no name or #. It looks like a for sale sign in the window. It's hard to tell for sure, but it looked to me like a sedan door and coupe quarter, but would have to the WB shortened. (The box looks Short! and the perspective is good. I like short PUs) She lives along Lake Huron and I'm guessing this is between Saginaw and Tawas on the east side of Michigan. She told me about it a couple months ago and finally sent a picture. I saw the horsecollar and also the taillites.
  • I like it I would haul lumber in it.

I dont see much to pick apart on this one , it just needs some finish work .

I have a 50 Pacemaker 4dr. that needs that done to it - just need to find another coupe quarter and I could be on my way !!!

Doubt it's a factory job - it's to customized. However, that said if it was a factory built, whom-so-ever customized it should be shot. Factory built's would be very, very rare.

Nice looking ride--would love to see it get a good home and end up at a few meets--specifically, ones that I go to.
  • I have one of those factory built pickup too. It is a 51 but the first few years and 100,000 + miles it was a 4 door super 6.

Edd. The serial is 5A 64574. My Dad traded for this car a 4 door super 6 in 52. We drove it a few years and he sold it to a family that really trashed the inside of it. He got it back and built it into a pickup. With all these other factory built trucks I thought mine might as well be a factory job like my 47.

I talked to my sisterinlaw tonight and the only thing she knew was the guy told her it was #4 out of 10 (which we already know there was only one factory and this isn't it, and many dealer conversions) and thought the guy wanted $14K for it. No Name or Phone # but the truck was in Au Gres, Michigan and she says he lives near there.
