I'm in need of a WA-1 968S carb, or at least a good rebuildable core. Contact me at HEThihill@verizon.net remove the HET if you have one to sell.

Harry,
Try Lance Walker ( Hudzilla)0 -
YEAH, reckon he had to pay $$$$$$$$$$ to get the car it was on !!!Hang in there Harry ,if Lance ain't got someone else will, --Got a Q for the REALLY SHARP GUYS. Harry has all new parts, can these be put in any W-1 with auto choke to make it the one he needs? Assumeing the linkages were also transplanted0

I don't think so. They are similar in operation, but different in appearance.

Carter WA-10 -
The WA1 are all the same basic carburettor, but the numbers designate different specifications depending on the application. Pertains to float settings, jet sizes, and metering pins. So if you had one particlular type, and got another core, you could transplant these components from your old one and it should work fine.

Thanks guys. What I would surmise then that one would want to look at the linkage set up on the carbs to be sure they had the ability to transplant those as they are often "pined" where linkage arms are placed on the shafts. I did think it possable but wanted the opinion of some guys that all recognize as reliable. Usefull info for all the Hud guys as these old carbs become harder to find and more expensive for specific applications. Great for the guys that can tackle about any task0

I think the biggest problem would be the shafts being worn out and needing to be bushed. I think all the bodies would be the same. How many different WA-1 carbs were used on the twin H engines? I know about 2 but I'm sure there are more. There has to be something wrong with the carb body on mine that I missed when I was rebuilding it, maybe a crack, something that is allowing air to enter and mix with the fuel even when I hold my hand over the throat and choke it.

Right Harry, the passaGE HAVEING BEEN DRILLED OUT PRETTY WELL SCRAPS IT. Take the other guys'es adv and get another carb. I possed the question about transplanting for the info of guys that'll try anything and have mucho talents, not beliitleing yours, you've worked hard on that thing, but that transplant sort of thing is for guys like Geoff and others with LOTS of expereince. Little more pateince, one WILL show up0
-
Yep, I'm considering this body a corpse. I'll find another body or a full carb. I'm guessing this body has to have a crack in it somewhere if it can run while being fully choked. I'm not about to start trying to weld pot metal.

If you are just looking for the float-bowl section with the passage and jet your other thread was referring to, I can help. PM me.
Also, I have a LOT of information regarding the Hudson carbs (Original Carter sheets) and the different specifications. There are VERY FEW differences between the various carbs--generally metering rods, levels, etc. As a matter of fact, (AAMOF?) I have three 749's completely rebiult to run on my triple-carb manifold. Look exactly the same as 968's and 2113's on the outside. (749's were on a Pacemaker, I believe.)
A friend of mine was the "tuner" for a racer named "Gas Ronda"--some No.Cal. old-timers might remember Gas, who originally drag raced a Hornet. The best times turned were after replacing 968's with 749's. (two.) Friend swore car ran better with the 749's.

Harry, check with Bill A.!0
-
Steve, I wrote Bill a couple of days ago but haven't heard back from him yet. I figure he's busy and will let me know when he has a chance.
BB308 I don't think it will matter which I put on except for getting the carbs to balance. I think both carbs need to be the same so as not to cause rpm pulsing.

YUP, keep em the same, but bein you've had so much trouble and worked so darn hard on this thing I would'nt start a whole new program, The guys are diggin for you, hang in there. 308 may have what you need to get straightened out0
-
BB308, any chance of makeing the info you have availeable ? If you have trouble like me getting things on here there are several members that help on that.0

One more time, Lance Walker (Hudzilla) hornetlw@yahoo.com or 704-792-91100 -
I'm already checking with Lance, didn't mean to make you think I was ignoring your post. I was hoping Bill A has something as I am near him and can look at the carb before trying it. I don't want to spend too much time sending things back and forth in case there is a problem. Not that Lance would knowingly send me a problem but since I can't see a problem with this carb I want to be able to check and if there is a problem be ready to change things out right away, instead of shipping back and forth. So if I can get a local carb I will.

Not trying to influence your decissions Harry, just want to say Lance is a straight up guy. have no fear of him. Of course a hands on look is always best if you can. It's just kinda we're all rootin for ya,you've had a real struggle with this thing0

Lance and I have already dealt with each other successfully, I bought a glass bowl fuel filter from him and he has offered me a carb at a fair price so I feel good about dealing with Lance. I was just waiting to see if Bill A had one before I went across the country to get one.

I understand what you are saying. I am in the Los Angeles area but I have had such good luck with Lance and he has spent countless hours with me on the phone and e-mail helping me with my car. He is so knowledgeable on Hudsons,it is scary. His patience is incredible,he will hang in there with you and coach you through until the problem is solved.0 -
Okay folks, I've got a new carb on the car so thanks to all who helped me. When I find out what was wrong with my old carb I'll report on it to the group in case it will help someone else along the way to Hudson Happiness.
