man, read this description... I wish someone would go look at it....
"For Sale is a Restored 1951 Hudson Commodore 6. This car was restored from the frame up and no expense was spared. The interior is as new as day one, re chromed bumpers, wide white walls, new paint. This car has the original 262 inline six, manual transmission on column, runs, drives. The only thing she needs is some fresh gas and a new battery. (The current one starts it but isn't very good). This car has been sitting for four years and it's time to sell need the space and money. I'm asking 7,800.00 or best offer. for the price, if it is decent, it sounds like a bargain.

I ran it through the BS translator and this is what I came up with.
For Sale - 51 Hudson Super 6 with Commodore trim (missing side trim and porkchops). In 1966 I took it to Earl Sheib for their $59 respray special (that was a lot of money in 1966). Dry rotted interior, don't even bother sitting on the seats, spray painted bumpers, and New Sears White Wall Tires I bought in 1971. This car might run and drive if you jump started it and replaced the 20 year old gas in the tank. It's been sitting for four years because of engine/brake/suspension/clutch problem that I wasn't able to fix for $25 bucks. $78,000 firm because it's just like the one in that movie.

No hostility here, just lots of experience buying used things from advertisements. If the car is that nice, I doubt that he would have just parked it for 4 years for no reason. He might as well put in the line "Ran when parked" LOL0

If this is the Commodore that I think it is, it's owned or was previously owned by the former Hudson dealer in Windom, 'Ray Koep'. Ray sold Oliver farm tractor's and Hudson cars for many years. I'd bet this is the car I seen several years ago in Ray's garage. When Ray was still in business, he had a couple Hudson pickup's which were used as shop/service vehicle's for service calls out to the area farm's. My Dad bought one of the pick-up's from him to use as his service truck, drove it away from Ray's dealer-ship for $50.00 ! ! Unfortunately, this pick-up vanished in a fire a year ago this past June.

47hud(hello Jim) that is the car! about a month ago I got a hornet sedan from jamesP on the way back I stopped for gas in windom and an older lady came over to talk glory days, and told me about this car. windom is only 40 miles from me if anyone wants me go look at it.0 -

yep, that's definately the former Hudson dealer from Windom, MN. car. Last time I seen it, which was in about '81, it looked just about like it does now, except it didn't have all the pitting under the chrome on the dash. Looks like it must have sat in a closed up garage most of the time. It's nasty for moisture & condensation around here in the early spring (March & April), and this is the end result when a vehicle sits ignored in a closed building.
Hope someone can rescue this one & get it back on the road, in my opinion, it would be a good Hudson again in the right hands !

The funny thing about this is that car is virtually identical to the 50 C6 I bought from Dave K last year, right down to the color of the paint and the age of the tires. Mine is in the same cosmetic condition, but his doesn't have a Dave Kostansek rebuilt motor with less than 50 miles on it.
I paid Dave $2750 for mine, if this guy gets $7800 or anything close to it for his, I'll eat my hat!0 -
This car has a lot more to start with than mine did, but then I did not give that kind of cash of mine. I think we might be a bit hard on the car, but to be honest... It is not a bad car. It has a lot of potential.0

I paid a fair price for my C6 and I'm very happy with it. I'm surprised that no one seems outraged with the blatant lies in RoyalLancer's ad.

I was shocked at all the hostility that I received. I thought that being a Hudson forum would be helpful and fun. There were several mis understandings that I feel should be brought to light. First I have only owned the car for two months. It was parked by the previous owner because the good man was dying and could no longer drive. He passed away and I purchased the car. The previous ad listed by me was for a '51 Hornet which I also bought and am restoring for myself. The '51 Commodore is the car I am selling. As for the pictures I'm sorry but it takes a while for my computer to download them to Craigslist, it's easier to send them to people when they ask. Also the price seems to have grown by several thousand as I feel 7,800.00 is a fair price, not 78,000.00 however. I was shocked at the utter hatred shared on this forum by people I thought shared a common interest. I guess joining this forum was my mistake.0

I can imagine how you must feel, but don't be angry just because some people had strong opinions. After all, you'll find differing opinions anytime a group of people are in discussion. If you'll take the time to read the posts and search for information that you may need, I think you'll be glad you joined. However, if you'd rather, there are other Hudson forums out there you may wish to check into. Please don't judge the forum and its members over your experiences with one thread. In the spirit Hudson and the Holidays, welcome and best of luck with your Hudsons. PS: Just in case you haven't done so already, don't forget to join the HET club and your local chapter.0 -
