  • I think it is, but that doesn't guarantee I'm right!!!:D
  • I don't see "Yak Yellow" on the chip sheet. Maybe there are other colors?

  • Its a coronation cream upper and brown lower if I am not mistaken. This is an original Hudson paint scheme.

53HornetA - It might have been an original color combo in 1951, but not in '48 & '49. The color chips shown above by Admin are the only colors I am aware of for the 1948 & 1949 model years.

1949-1950 Hudson always used the darker color on top and a lighter color on the lower part. I have never seen this color combination in any of those years. In 1951 they started coming out with light colors on the top. Coronation Cream is the color of my '54 Hudson, with a dark green top.

All that being said we all know that the factory did a lot of special orders including paint. The car in the picture has been repainted you can tell by the grill bars They are supposed to be black.

Thank you. I don't know these cars all that well, but I was pretty sure the grille bars were black.

I have noticed that the phrase "all original" often means that work that has been done is done in the original theme." To me, all original means NO restoration work has been done, but then I don't always think inside the box. My Model A Ford is an example. It has had a complete frame up rebuild in the original manner. it is not an original car. it is "restored" to original specs.
  • Didn't someone who used to work at a Hudson dealer recently post that he saw new stepdown coupes and sedans with hydraulic windows? In that post, it was implied that Hudson would do pretty much what the customer wanted. If that was indeed Hudson's policy, isn't it possible that the car in question here could have left the factory in this color scheme?

All 48 - 9 cars came with flat black behind the grill. This car has them painted body color. This would indicate to me that the car had been re-painted and therefore is not all original. Maybe he meant original as in not rodded. It is defiantly not an original car.
