Talk about having one foot in the grave

Ya know, when someone asks what a car looks like when its got one foot in the grave, ya might want to show 'em this '36 . . .
A fellow HET club member had given me the lead on this '36 (he was looking for '37 stuff, not '36) in a salvage yard, so I figured I'd go up and check it out - see if it was worth picking some parts off of. Turns out the parts I was most interested in - the rear fenders - were iffy at best, but also saw that it had everything else that I needed to get my '36 pickup back to 100% (headlights, hood chrome, gauge cluster, seat, horn button, glass, door handles, etc . . .), not to mention the possibility of having some spare sheet metal around if %^$& happens.
Now's all I gotta do is get it home . . .

Timbersmith, I would jump on this if the price isn't too bad. They're not making any more of them and you'll never get another opportunity to get all you need at that low a price. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Get it home before China raises the prices of scrap again, then it WILL be gone.0

I found this in eastern Ohio. I don't know how long the place has had it, but the story was quite interesting. Casual observers might not notice, but this used to be a car (don't know what type) that was modified into a truck back in the 30's. From what the yard owner told me, the guy who originally bought this car had wanted a truck, but couldn't get one up in New York for some reason. It was possible to get the bed from the Hudson dealer, so he had bought a car, cut the body to make a cab and put on the bed (tell-tale sign in these pics is the rear window. Trucks have a standard oval, not split).
Hudzilla - way ahead of ya. We struck a deal right there and all I have to do is swing by to pick it up - the yard will exhume it with a forklift and get it ready to drop onto a trailer for me. Alls I have to do is get my truck up and running (not likely), rent a truck, or find someone who wants to go on an adventure (yea, that's a hint for anyone close by who would be willing to help).

*edit*: Yea, I figured you were just curious. No harm done. And I'm sure you'll be able to find a '36-7 as well - I've now gotten my hands on a total of 3 in the past year, only one worth fixing up, of course (1: the one I'm restoring, 2: half of a '36 from Michigan's U.P., 3: this one). Either I'm extremely lucky to find that many, or things were meant to be.0 -
Don't know if this is any help on your projects there but thought you might like to see. 1935 Hudson Terraplane drivetrain

Ya know, it's actually kinda interesting. A couple of years ago i.e. before I got it in my head to look for a truck from the '30's, I might've looked on a scene like that as "neat car - shame it's a lost cause". Now I look at that and see "Woohoo! Gold Mine! There's some gems hidden in that hunk of rust." Never would'a thought I'd be interested in acquiring anything in this condition - course this is the first car that I've had that is so old (and/or so rare).
And the one thing I don't need right now is another drivetrain - have 3 sets of '36 engines (one junk, 2 complete carb to oil pan)/transmissions and 2 rear axles - including what's in this truck (that's another thing - never thought I'd have this many spare parts stacking up. But like ya said . . . they're not making 'em anymore . . . so I guess someone's gotta hold onto 'em).
Man is this gonna be a nightmare if I need to move anytime soon,

Ok! I am in WPA and you said the truck was in Eastern OH, Depending on weather, time, work and exact location in Ohio. I may be able to help. I have a "99" Dodge Dakota if you have a trailer, but I am not sure of the logistics between Cincinnati and PA.0 -
I don't know if you guys noticed but this engine is located in jackson, ga....0
