1951 -1952 Hornet Technical Information
I would appreciate learning the following:
a.) 1952 Hornet Coupe Stock Wheel Base (110) ?
b.) Is 1951 Hornet Sedan Radiator Support Same As 1952 Hornet Coupe?
I posted some pictures two days ago of my coupe and will be posting a couple more later with engine and transmission already fitted in car, can't believe progess in two days; also have to correct some of last builder's inferior workmanship, but at least we are going forward.
Also completed upholstery of driver/passenger's front back rest support and two courtesy handles (see before and after pictures) I purchased from Bill Albright at Laughlin show; will start on seats next week. Going to chrom plater's tomorrow and will have back of rear seat handles plated, then all I have to is woodgrain back piece and fully assemble. You never know when you will use some of life's past experiences, about 58 years ago at 12 years old, I worked in my father's upholestry business.
I know I'll have a lot of future mechanical tech questions requiring answers, as always and in advance appreciate member's expereince/input.
Thanks,
Ray

Thanks, I'd be happy too...
As I mentioned in earlier posts, I purchased '51 titleless Hornet that with patience, time (don't last two words mean the same) and money is restorable...For restoration purpose of my coupe I purchased this car to use as a live template, after coupe completion I'll arrange to dispose of car, getting my money back, knowledge and a few parts that never were returned to me...I also have extra trunk and hood that I'll let go with 1951 Hornet.

As I mentioned in earlier FORUM message I am posting three pictures with engine, trans and floor pan, that about it until next weekend. Does any member have have any experience with Ford 9" rear end/suspension installation, if so I'd be interested in learning about it and also proper measurements would be helpful.
Thanks,

Re: 1951 -1952 Hornet Technical Information
Hi Rudy,
Sorry for delay of your questions, I had to finish other side of front support backrest, check out pictures. As I mentioned we couldn't complete plating in day and brought back parts that were only put in soft copper tank for almost 45 minutes. Had them color buffed in Las Vegas shop and they are ready for nickel and chrome plating next week, you can see from pictures I had one handle completely done in chrome and the other parts are still in copper. As for the quality, I am not a judge but I would rate these parts highly and install on my car any day. I would definitely would use these vendors; price as follows:
I don't think Palm Springs plater will accept a small plate run, I piggybacked the new Las Vegas plating shop (cut on paste http://americancarchrome.com web-site, click on different pages and you'll see a picture of Black Beauty) and received the following; all triple plated: Complete polishing, prepping and plating; handles at $35.00 each and antenna at $55.00, however if you have clean polished, prepped parts and only require plating, cost of handles @ @12.25 and the antenna would be $19.25 once again to qualify for these prices you piggyback a larger load of plating. I hope I explained properly, if you have any further questions, you know Rudy I’ll do my best to answer you.

Ray,
I am going out on a limb but I really think Hornet cpe and sdn's use same WB and Core Support.
PS: Motor looks good setting in the chassis
I suggest cutting out the carrier brg support, build a (safety) Loop below the area which will re-strengthen, then use a 1 pc driveshaft.
If your going for serious power consider fabricating pair sub-frame connectors (like Camaro/firebird).0 -

Good Morning Ol racer,
Thanks again for your recommended input, all of which I've been following and printed messages to pass onto the new builder/restorer of my car. Intend to work on the car this weekend, first to undue some of inferior welding work by other so called builders or in this case butcher, then start to measure for engine and transmission mounts welding, fabricate radiator support before starting on rear end/draft shaft; got lead on Lincoln Versailles rear suspension and will check it out this weekend. Going to pick up the titleless 1951 Hornet sedan today to use as template and a couple parts that weren't returned to me, after that if I can't sell w/o title (car is restorable plus 90 percent there) I'll remove all pot metal and stainless and either offer as cores or will triple plate with my plater on FORUM or eBay and although I hate to bring whatever not used to scrap metal yard I will at later date.
Have a good day,
Ray0
