Nice looking car, but I doubt that it is "original" Looks like a repaint to me, notice the strikers on the door jams are painted. did not come that way, also over spray on the trunk springs. notice a section of trunk weatherstipping missing. Nice interior but I don't believe the upholstery is factory. What about the antenna knob being painted body color??. Twin H was not available on 51's (I believe)
I wouldn't kick it out of my garage though.

What's this honey really worth as she sits repaint or no? I like the look of her and have a few quid burning a hole in my pocket.

I know I'm picking- but if I don't, someone will. This does appear to be a pretty nice car, although it is NOT original (or unmolested) in my opinion. I would like to have it to add to my pair of '51's.
1. Upside down "V" is not gold plated.
2. Interior is not correct.definately wrong upholstery. Nice looking though!
3. Rear rocker extension ends are supposed to be body color.
4. Are the rain gutters chrome??
5. Missing bumper guards front and rear.
6. No License plate holder on the front.
7. Antenna knob is body color.
8. I believe that the center post between the windshields are supposed to be solid brown.
9. Trunk carpet. I think that it looks nice.
All things considered, I would LOVE to own this car if I had the space and a wife that would forgive me for buying a fourth Hudson!0 -
I've never owned a Hudson with an automatic--how did the automatic transmissions hold up.0
-
The Hydromatics hold up well.... Great Road car..... If it's set up correctly you can drive this car coast to coast and be more comfortable then todays cars..... Much better comfort then tight bucket seats......0
-
I believe Twin-H came out in the middle of 52( so what) but I don't believe that dual range hydro was available in 51(look at the selector. This would lead me to believe that the car is pieces of a 52 or 53. The chrome steering column is worn and pits on the cracked steering wheel appear on the ring. Nice weak #3,though.0

You guys have a good eye for details. Does anyone want to venture a guess at what this car will sell for?0

My guess is it will sell for sure, Dave...:D0 -

A weak #3? Guess that makes mine about a strong eleven. . .:rolleyes:0 -
Anyone else notice that the serial number plate is riveted on. Originals are held on with special nails.
I just checked ebay. Car no longer listed?0 -

well, why don't you find a place for that black pacemaker coupe you got, and step up to a hornet?0 -
Someday I would like to have a big enough garage and to turn it into a showroom like floor with a couple of '51's. By the way kid- I think that the swb cars handle better than a Hornet! You'll have to keep on looking for another SWB car!0

Well, one of these days, there might be two black 51 pacemaker coupes sitting around, it might look like a cloning convention...
Or maybe I can find a 52???
nah, i like the old style taillights better. They're cheaper, and easier to find...0 -
I think weak # 3 is being a bit harsh. This looks to me like a very respectable #2. As to price it will go for I would venture that even with the flaws that have been mentioned and the ones I see in the engine compartment, this car should go between 20 and 23K. The engine problems are minor (I do expect that it is not a 51 engine) and the interior is nice and presentable, but I expect that it is new. I like the car and expect that the owner has a good idea what it is worth. My guess would be that it will not make reserve. I think it is a car that any owner would be proud to drive and show.

Yep. Already sold.0 -
I know for a fact that the car was sold for just under 30K, i inquired about the car0
-
Still and all a beautiful car - to bad the engine compartment and underside hadn't been as well detailed as the rest of it.
I wouldn't kick it out of my garage - except to show it off wherever I could.

If this is weak #3 for the Club rating then I now have extremely weak #5 that is street legal and runs.
I think we need to expand the rating system somewhat.0 -
I think that someone took the plate off for painting purposes. Plain and simple.0

 30k. I would say 20k.Congrats.0

If I ever get enough $$$ to repaint our Pacemaker, you bet I would have the tag removed as well.0 -
Pacemaker500 wrote:If I ever get enough $$$ to repaint our Pacemaker, you bet I would have the tag removed as well.
I don't see a problem removing it, just make sure you replace it with the same rivets that came out. And, don't bend it up, And document the removal, and the replacement. Then there should never be a question, like this car now has to endure, about authenticity.
I think if it would have been done nice and neat, undamaged, and used the proper pins, it would have been a non issue. Looks like someone used a screwdriver and pried.
The other thing about this car, is while it looks nice, check out the chrome. It is all nice and rechromed over pock marked pitted crap. The closeup of the hornet emblem particularly. To take this car to the next level will be costly.
End of the day, I wish I had it. regardless.0 -
You know what I think is neat about this whole scene??.This Hudson looks like it is one of the higher priced cars in this guys inventory, and the auction was ended early!!! I wonder how many other cars in their inventory that are listed "SOLD"before the auction ended??.I would guess the Step-down Hudson stuff is currently, and still one of the most sought after cars,in the 48-54 years range?.They are comfortable, dependible, and can be restored to original and driven at highway speed with safety!0

Car is still for sale.... I spoke to the seller this morning because I was bidding on it and didn't know what happened..... He said the following...
1 .Relisted because of inaccurate description
2. Solid as a rock underneath
3. Engine runs well
4. Single range Hydro shifts smooth
5. He's going to relist in a day or two0 -
Alex, Neil Cassiday drove a 49 super six 4 door. I know this because I drove my 49 to the opening of the Jack Kerouac Wing of the Lowel Mass Museum... They were christeniing the Jack Kerouac Wing. I met one of the original passengers from the Trip " Al Hinkle " ( Ed DUnkel ) . He sat in my 49 Commodore and they did a Photo shoot for the upcoming Documentary..... He said that Jack Bought the car in SanFran and bought it without heat..... Going accross country it Al said that it got mighty cold as they came east.... Alot of blankets.....
Tom Brintall was also there in his 50...C-8....0 -
They filmed the movie "Last time I committed Sucide" about Neil Cassidy here in Ogden down on 25th street. If you every get a chance to se it, I was driving my 1932 Chevrolet in the back ground every now and then. They had Neil in a 1946 Merc convertible for the movie. So much for authentic?0

I bet yours would be a #3, maybe a low 3, just from your avatar picture. worst it could be is a 4. Mine's a 4, hopeful for a 3 when the summer ends this year.0 -

Hello all, the coupe that was sold on ebay is by Topshelf reps, they sell cars for other individuals that dont want to deal with the tire kickers and the weird phone calls and emails that usually follow a listing on ebay. when a person is finally serious enough in buying the car they will get on the phone with the actual owner and arrange an inspection purchase or whatever.
so most of his cars you will see a plate from other than indiana,i have worked with him in the past and he has a great service offered for those that dont want to take the headackes that run with selling on ebay.
anyway the car is sold as of this after noon payment in full, and no i wasnt mine i would have loved to have it. and it was sold for just under 30k,0 -
